Computing on Masked Data to improve the Security of Big Data

Organizations that make use of large quantities of information require the ability to store and process data from central locations so that the product can be shared or distributed across a heterogeneous group of users. However, recent events underscore the need for improving the security of data stored in such untrusted servers or databases. Advances in cryptographic techniques and database technologies provide the necessary security functionality but rely on a computational model in which the cloud is used solely for storage and retrieval. Much of big data computation and analytics make use of signal processing fundamentals for computation. As the trend of moving data storage and computation to the cloud increases, homeland security missions should understand the impact of security on key signal processing kernels such as correlation or thresholding. In this article, we propose a tool called Computing on Masked Data (CMD), which combines advances in database technologies and cryptographic tools to provide a low overhead mechanism to offload certain mathematical operations securely to the cloud. This article describes the design and development of the CMD tool.Comment: 6 pages, Accepted to IEEE HST Conferenc

Big data is a phrase that refers to the large volumes of digital data that are being generated as a consequence of technology improvements in the health care industry, e-commerce, and research, among other fields. It is impossible to analyze Big Data using typical analytic tools since traditional data storage systems do not have the capacity to deal with such a large volume of data. Cloud computing has made it more easier for people to store and process data remotely in recent years. By distributing large data sets over a network of cloudlets, cloud computing can address the challenges of managing, storing, and analyzing this new breed of data It's possible for private data to be leaked when it is kept in the cloud, as users have no control over it. This paper proposes a framework for a secure data storage by using the K-medoids-based twin fish cipher cryptographic algorithm. We first normalize the data using the Filter splash Z normalization and then apply the Euclidean neural network to compute similarity, which ensures data correctness and reduces computational cost. As a result, the suggested encryption strategy is used to encrypt and decode the outsourced data, thereby protecting private information from being exposed. The whole experiment was conducted using health data from a large metropolis from the Kaggle database. Using the recommended encryption method, users will be able to maintain their privacy while saving time and money by storing their large amounts of data on the cloud

Data Security and privacy is one of the serious issues in internet-based computing like cloud computing, mobile computing and Internet of Things (IoT). This security and privacy become manifolded in IoT because of diversified technologies and the interaction of Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) used in IoT. IoTs are being adapted in academics and in many organizations without fully protecting their assets and also without realizing that the traditional security solutions cannot be applied to IoT environment. This paper explores a comprehensive survey of IoT architectures, communication technologies and the security and privacy issues of them for a new researcher in IoT. This paper also suggests methods to thwart the security and privacy issues in the different layers of IoT architecture

Internet-of-Things (IoT) offers a big boon towards a massive network of connected devices and is considered to offer coverage to an exponential number of the smart appliance in the very near future. Owing to the nascent stage of evolution of IoT, it is shrouded by security loopholes because of various reasons. Review of existing research-based solution highlights the usage of conventional cryptographic-based solution over the traditional mechanism of data forwarding process between IoT nodes and gateway. The proposed system presents a novel solution to this problem by a model that is capable of performing a highly secured and cost-effective authentication process. The proposed system introduces Authentication Using Signature (AUS) as well as Security with Complexity Reduction (SCR) for the purpose to resist participation of any form of unknown threats. The outcome of the model shows better security strength with faster response time and energy saving of the IoT nodes
