Last year, two checkout-free flash stores made their debut in Hong Kong. After the initial try, several companies followed up, and opened their own checkout-free stores or exhibitions, e.g., Sinopec’s easy joy, Watsons, and AlipayHK Futureland. The trial of these stores has aroused wide attentions and discussions on the possibility of new retailing format and experience in Hong Kong. From the consumers’ perspective, this study aims to understand whether the concept of checkout-free store is welcomed by the local people, and what are the factors influencing Hongkongers’ adoption intention toward checkout-free technologies and stores. To realize the above research objectives, we used theory of technology acceptance, UTAUT2, and their extension to build a theoretical model, and empirically tested it by focus groups. The qualitative study shows some initial results to address the research questions

Abstract(#br)This study aims to investigate the effects of relative advantage, complexity, upper management support, cost, market dynamics, competitive pressure and regulatory support on blockchain adoption for operations and supply chain management among Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. Unlike existing studies that employed linear models with Technology Acceptance Model or United Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology that ignores the organisational and environmental factors, we adopted the Technology, Organisation and Environment Framework that covers the technological dimensions of relative advantage and complexity, organisational dimensions of upper management support and cost and environmental dimensions of market dynamics, competitive pressure and regulatory support. Empirical data from 194 SMEs were investigated and ranked using a nonlinear non-compensatory PLS-ANN approach. Competitive pressure, complexity, cost and relative have significant effects on behavioural intention. Market dynamics, regulatory support and upper management support were insignificant predictors. SMEs often lack resources for technological investments but faces same requirements for streamlining business processes to optimise returns and blockchain presents a viable option for SMEs’ sustainability due to its features of immutability, transparency and security that have the potential to revolutionise businesses. This study contributes new knowledge to the literature on factors that affect blockchain adoption and justifications were discussed accordingly

Business leaders do not often consider investing in informational technology (IT) to increase performance. These business leaders lack knowledge of innovative IT adoption strategies to expand their revenue and reduce costs to sustain a competitive advantage. Grounded in the technology-organization-environment (TOE) theory, the purpose of this qualitative multiple case study was to explore IT innovation adoption strategies business leaders use to increase performance. The participants were four successful business leaders selected from finalists for international entrepreneurial awards presented annually in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. The data were collected using semistructured telephone interviews, media releases, and online publications. Using thematic analysis and Yin\u27s five-stage iterative data analysis process led to four themes: to increase performance, business leaders must adopt innovative IT strategies in business operations, human capital, production, and deployment systems. A key recommendation is that business leaders focus on IT innovation to leverage technology infrastructure as part of the workplace culture, business structure, and digital services to provide end-to-end customer experiences. The implications for positive social change include the potential to increase the profitability of more businesses, enhance the worth and dignity of struggling business owners and their communities, and have a value-added effect on the study\u27s participants as contributors back to their communities
