Proceedings of the 11th European Agent Systems Summer School Student Session
This volume contains the papers presented at the Student Session of the 11th European Agent Systems Summer School (EASSS) held on 2nd of September 2009 at Educatorio della Providenza, Turin, Italy. The Student Session, organised by students, is designed to encourage student interaction and feedback from the tutors. By providing the students with a conference-like setup, both in the presentation and in the review process, students have the opportunity to prepare their own submission, go through the selection process and present their work to each other and their interests to their fellow students as well as internationally leading experts in the agent field, both from the theoretical and the practical sector. Two Approaches to Ontology Aggregation Based on Axiom Weakening
Axiom weakening is a novel technique that allows
for fine-grained repair of inconsistent ontologies.
In a multi-agent setting, integrating ontologies corresponding
to multiple agents may lead to inconsistencies.
Such inconsistencies can be resolved after
the integrated ontology has been built, or their
generation can be prevented during ontology generation.
We implement and compare these two approaches.
First, we study how to repair an inconsistent
ontology resulting from a voting-based aggregation
of views of heterogeneous agents. Second,
we prevent the generation of inconsistencies by letting
the agents engage in a turn-based rational protocol
about the axioms to be added to the integrated
ontology. We instantiate the two approaches using
real-world ontologies and compare them by measuring
the levels of satisfaction of the agents w.r.t.
the ontology obtained by the two procedures
05371 Abstracts Collection -- Principles and Practices of Semantic Web Reasoning
From 11.09.05 to 16.09.05, the Dagstuhl Seminar 05371 ``Principles and Practices of Semantic Web Reasoning\u27\u27 % generate automaticall was held in the International Conference and Research Center (IBFI), Schloss Dagstuhl.
During the seminar, several participants presented their current
research, and ongoing work and open problems were discussed. Abstracts of
the presentations given during the seminar as well as abstracts of
seminar results and ideas are put together in this paper. The first section
describes the seminar topics and goals in general.
Links to extended abstracts or full papers are provided, if available
