    ECM-GT: design of efficient computational modelling based on game theoretical approach towards enhancing the security solutions in MANET

    Game Theory is a useful tool for exploring the issues concerning Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (or MANET) security. In MANETs, coordination among the portable nodes is more significant, which encompasses their vulnerability challenges to several security assaults and the inability to run securely, when storing its resources and manage secure routing between the nodes. Hence, it is imperative to design an efficient routing protocol to secure all nodes from unknown behaviors. In the current research study, the game-theory approach is utilized for analytical purpose and addresses the security problems in MANETs. The game-theoretic approach is mainly adopted to find the malicious activities in the networks. In the proposed work, a Bayesian-Signaling game model is proposed which analyses the behavior of both regular/normal and malicious nodes. The game model proposed also provides the finest actions of autonomous tactics for every node. A Bayesian-Equilibrium (BE) offers the best solution for games to resolve the incomplete information by joining strategies and players payoff which form an equilibrium. By exploiting the BE mechanism, the system can detect the behavior of regular as well as malicious nodes. Therefore, Efficient ComputationalModelling based on Game Theory or ECM-GT methodology will reduce the utility of malicious nodes and increase the utility of regular nodes. Also, it stimulates the best co-operation among the nodes by exploiting the reputation system. On comparing our results with the existing systems, it was found that the proposed algorithm performed better in the detection of malicious nodes, throughput, false positive rate and detection of attacks

    Intrusion Detection in Mobile Adhoc Network with Bayesian model based MAC Identification

    Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) are a collection of heterogeneous, infrastructure less, self-organizing and battery powered mobile nodes with different resources availability and computational capabilities. The dynamic and distributed nature of MANETs makes them suitable for deployment in extreme and volatile environmental conditions. They have found applications in diverse domains such as military operations, environmental monitoring, rescue operations etc. Each node in a MANET is equipped with a wireless transmitter and receiver, which enables it to communicate with other nodes within its wireless transmission range. However, due to limited wireless communication range and node mobility, nodes in MANET must cooperate with each other to provide networking services among themselves. Therefore, each node in a MANET acts both as a host and a router. Present Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) for MANETs require continuous monitoring which leads to rapid depletion of a node?s battery life. To avoid this issue we propose a system to prevent intrusion in MANET using Bayesian model based MAC Identification from multiple nodes in network. Using such system we can provide lightweight burden to nodes hence improving energy efficiency

    Mobile adhoc network is signified as a boon for advance and future wireless communication system. Owing to its self-establishing network features and decentralization, the system can actually establish a wireless communication with vast range of connectivity with the other nodes. However, the system of MANET is also beheld with various technical impediments owing to its inherent dynamic topologies. Although there are abundant volume of research work, but very few have been able to effectively address the node misbehavior problems in MANET. The paper initially tries to draw a line between different types of nodes in MANETs based on their behavior characteristics, then reviews some of the significant contribution of the prior researches for addressing node misbehavior issues. A major emphasis is laid on is the researches which use game theory as a tool to study and address the misbehavior problems. The manuscript is developed considering some of the latest and standard evidences of past 5 years and finally discusses the open issues related to the problems

    Bayesian signaling game based efficient security model for MANETs

    Game Theory acts as a suitable tool offering promising solutions to security-related concerns in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (i.e., MANETs). In MANETs, security forms a prominent concern as it includes nodes which are usually portable and require significant coordination between them. Further, the absence of physical organisation makes such networks susceptible to security breaches, hindering secure routing and execution among nodes. Game Theory approach has been manipulated in the current study to achieve an analytical view while addressing the security concerns in MANETs. This paper offers a Bayesian-Signaling game model capable of analysing the behaviour associated with regular as well as malicious nodes. In the proposed model, the utility of normal nodes has been increased while reducing the utility linked to malicious nodes. Moreover, the system employs a reputation system capable of stimulating best cooperation between the nodes. The regular nodes record incessantly to examine their corresponding nodesโ€™ behaviours by using the belief system of Bayes-rules. On its comparison with existing schemes, it was revealed that the presented algorithm provides better identification of malicious nodes and attacks while delivering improved throughput and reduced false positive rate

    MANETs are self configuring networks that are formed by a set of wireless mobile nodes and have no fixed network infrastructure nor administrative support. Since transmission range of wireless network interfaces is limited, forwarding hosts may be needed. Each node in a wireless ad hoc network functions is as both a host and a router. Due to their communication type and resources constraint, MANETs are vulnerable to diverse types of attacks and intrusions so, security is a critical issue. Network security is usually provided in the three phases: intrusion prevention, intrusion detection and intrusion tolerance phase. However, the network security problem is far from completely solved. Researchers have been exploring the applicability of game theory approaches to address the network security issues.     Survey on Quality Analysis of Collaboration Motivation Approach in Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

    In Wireless Ad Hoc Networks (WANETs), tasks are conducted based on the cooperation of nodes in the networks. However, since the nodes are usually constrained by limited computation resources, selfish nodes may refuse to be cooperative. Reputation system is one of the main solutions to the node non cooperation problem. A reputation system evaluates node behaviours by reputation values and uses a reputation threshold to distinguish trustworthy nodes and untrustworthy nodes. Although this system has been widely used, very little research has been devoted to investigating the effectiveness of the node cooperation incentives provided by the systems. We propose a protocol called Enhanced Reverse Ad Hoc On Demand Vector Routing Protocol (ERAODV), which uses Hybrid Reputation System (HRS). A Hybrid Reputation system is an enhanced version of Classical Reputation System (CRS). Unlike the CRS it takes into account all the reputation values from the node to determine whether it is trustworthy or not. This paper primarily discusses on the security issues, which has been still unsolved after abundant research work. The paper basically stresses on the potential features of Swarm Intelligence (SI) and its associated techniques to mitigate the security issues. Majority of the previous researches based on SI has used Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) or Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) extensively. Elaborated discussion on SI with respect to trust management, authentication, and attack models are made with support of some of the recent studies done in same area.     Energy Efficient unauthorized Intrusion Detection in mobile Ad-Hoc Neworks

    Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET) are self-configuring, infrastructure-less, dynamic wireless networks in which the nodes are resource constrained. Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are used in MANETs to monitor activities so as to detect any intrusion in the network. The proposed system present efficient scheme for analyzing and optimizing the time duration for which the intrusion detection systems need to remain active in a Mobile Ad Hoc Network. A probabilistic model is proposed that makes use of cooperation between IDSs among neighborhood nodes to reduce their individual active time. Usually, an IDS has to run all the time on every node to oversee the network behavior. This can turn out to be a costly overhead for a battery-powered mobile device in terms of power and computational resources. Hence, this project aim is to reduce the duration of active time of the IDSs without compromising on their effectiveness. To validate this proposed approach, it models the interactions between IDSs as a multi-player cooperative game in which the players have partially cooperative and partially conflicting goals
