Multiplicity anomalies of an optimal fourth-order class of iterative methods for solving nonlinear equations

[EN] There is a few number of optimal fourth-order iterative methods for obtaining the multiple roots of nonlinear equations. But, in most of the earlier studies, scholars gave the flexibility in their proposed schemes only at the second step (not at the first step) in order to explore new schemes. Unlike what happens in existing methods, the main aim of this manuscript is to construct a new fourth-order optimal scheme which will give the flexibility to the researchers at both steps as well as faster convergence, smaller residual errors and asymptotic error constants. The construction of the proposed scheme is based on the mid-point formula and weight function approach. From the computational point of view, the stability of the resulting class of iterative methods is studied by means of the conjugacy maps and the analysis of strange fixed points. Their basins of attractions and parameter planes are also given to show their dynamical behavior around the multiple roots. Finally, we consider a real-life problem and a concrete variety of standard test functions for numerical experiments and relevant results are extensively treated to confirm the theoretical development. This research was partially supported by Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad MTM2014-52016-C2-2-P and Generalitat Valenciana PROMETEO/2016/089.Behl, R.; Cordero Barbero, A.; Motsa, SS.; Torregrosa Sánchez, JR. Multistep High-Order Methods for Nonlinear Equations Using Pade-Like Approximants

[EN] We present new high-order optimal iterativemethods for solving a nonlinear equation, f(x) = 0, by using Pade-like approximants. We compose optimal methods of order 4 with Newton's step and substitute the derivative by using an appropriate rational approximant, getting optimal methods of order 8. In the same way, increasing the degree of the approximant, we obtain optimal methods of order 16. We also perform different numerical tests that confirm the theoretical results. This work has been supported by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovacion de Espana MTM2014-52016-C2-02-P and Generalitat Valenciana PROMETEO/2016/089.Cordero Barbero, A.; Hueso Pagoaga, JL.; Martínez Molada, E.; Torregrosa Sánchez, JR. Widening basins of attraction of optimal iterative methods

[EN] In this work, we analyze the dynamical behavior on quadratic polynomials of a class of derivative-free optimal parametric iterative methods, designed by Khattri and Steihaug. By using their parameter as an accelerator, we develop different methods with memory of orders three, six and twelve, without adding new functional evaluations. Then a dynamical approach is made, comparing each of the proposed methods with the original ones without memory, with the following empiric conclusion: Basins of attraction of iterative schemes with memory are wider and the behavior is more stable. This has been numerically checked by estimating the solution of a practical problem, as the friction factor of a pipe and also of other nonlinear academic problems. This research was supported by Islamic Azad University, Hamedan Branch, Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad MTM2014-52016-C02-2-P and Generalitat Valenciana PROMETEO/2016/089.Bakhtiari, P.; Cordero Barbero, A.; Lotfi, T.; Mahdiani, K.; Torregrosa Sánchez, JR. A class of optimal iterative methods for solving nonlinear equations is extended up to sixteenth-order of convergence. CMMSE2017: On two classes of fourth- and seventh-order vectorial methods with stable behavior

[EN] A family of fourth-order iterative methods without memory, for solving nonlinear systems, and its seventh-order extension, are analyzed. By using complex dynamics tools, their stability and reliability are studied by means of the properties of the rational function obtained when they are applied on quadratic polynomials. The stability of their fixed points, in terms of the value of the parameter, its critical points and their associated parameter planes, etc. give us important information about which members of the family have good properties of stability and whether in any of them appear chaos in the iterative process. The conclusions obtained in this dynamical analysis are used in the numerical section, where an academical problem and also the chemical problem of predicting the diffusion and reaction in a porous catalyst pellet are solved. This research was partially supported by Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad MTM2014-52016-C02-2-P and Generalitat Valenciana PROMETEO/2016/089.Cordero Barbero, A.; Guasp, L.; Torregrosa Sánchez, JR. On generalization based on Bi et al. Iterative methods with eighth-order convergence for solving nonlinear equations

The primary goal of this work is to provide a general optimal three-step class of iterative methods based on the schemes designed by Bi et al. (2009). Accordingly, it requires four functional evaluations per iteration with eighth-order convergence. Consequently, it satisfies Kung and Traub's conjecture relevant to construction optimal methods without memory. Moreover, some concrete methods of this class are shown and implemented numerically, showing their applicability and efficiency. The authors thank the anonymous referees for their valuable comments and for the suggestions to improve the readability of the paper. An optimal three-point eighth-order iterative method without memory for solving nonlinear equations with its dynamics

We present a three-point iterative method without memory for solving nonlinear equations in one variable. The proposed method provides convergence order eight with four function evaluations per iteration. Hence, it possesses a very high computational efficiency and supports Kung and Traub's conjecture. The construction, the convergence analysis, and the numerical implementation of the method will be presented. Using several test problems, the proposed method will be compared with existing methods of convergence order eight concerning accuracy and basin of attraction. Furthermore, some measures are used to judge methods with respect to their performance in finding the basin of attraction.Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1508.0174
