Motorized cart
Motorized cart is known as an effective tool and timeless that help people carry heavy loads. For farmers, it has an especially vital tool for moving goods. Oil palm farmers typically uses the wheelbarrow to move the oil palm fruit (Figure 10.1). However, there is a lack of equipment that should be further enhanced in capabilities. Motorized carts that seek to add automation to wheelbarrow as it is to help people save manpower while using it. At present, oil palm plantation industry is among the largest in Malaysia. However, in an effort to increase the prestige of the industry to a higher level there are challenges to be faced. Shortage of workers willing to work the farm for harvesting oil palm has given pain to manage oil palm plantations. Many have complained about the difficulty of hiring foreign workers and a high cost. Although there are tools that can be used to collect or transfer the proceeds of oil palm fruits such as carts available. However, these tools still have the disadvantage that requires high manpower to operate. Moreover, it is not suitable for all land surfaces and limited cargo space. Workload and manpower dependence has an impact on farmers' income
Reliability of Mobile Agents for Reliable Service Discovery Protocol in MANET
Recently mobile agents are used to discover services in mobile ad-hoc network
(MANET) where agents travel through the network, collecting and sometimes
spreading the dynamically changing service information. But it is important to
investigate how reliable the agents are for this application as the
dependability issues(reliability and availability) of MANET are highly affected
by its dynamic nature. The complexity of underlying MANET makes it hard to
obtain the route reliability of the mobile agent systems (MAS); instead we
estimate it using Monte Carlo simulation. Thus an algorithm for estimating the
task route reliability of MAS (deployed for discovering services) is proposed,
that takes into account the effect of node mobility in MANET. That mobility
pattern of the nodes affects the MAS performance is also shown by considering
different mobility models. Multipath propagation effect of radio signal is
considered to decide link existence. Transient link errors are also considered.
Finally we propose a metric to calculate the reliability of service discovery
protocol and see how MAS performance affects the protocol reliability. The
experimental results show the robustness of the proposed algorithm. Here the
optimum value of network bandwidth (needed to support the agents) is calculated
for our application. However the reliability of MAS is highly dependent on link
failure probability
Study on QoS support in 802.11e-based multi-hop vehicular wireless ad hoc networks
Multimedia communications over vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET) will play an important role in the future intelligent transport system (ITS). QoS support for VANET therefore becomes an essential problem. In this paper, we first study the QoS performance in multi-hop VANET by using the standard IEEE 802.11e EDCA MAC and our proposed triple-constraint QoS routing protocol, Delay-Reliability-Hop (DeReHQ). In particular, we evaluate the DeReHQ protocol together with EDCA in highway and urban areas. Simulation results show that end-to-end delay performance can sometimes be achieved when both 802.11e EDCA and DeReHQ extended AODV are used. However, further studies on cross-layer optimization for QoS support in multi-hop environment are required
