    With increasing amounts of software services provided to users and the more demanding requirements needed from them, monitoring of services is becoming increasingly important. Web service monitoring is the process of confirming system functionality by studying its various attributes, such as availability, reliability, and performance. Monitoring the services helps the software developers, maintainers and owners as they allow for increased reliability, robustness and possibly performance analysis. This thesis focuses on web service monitoring and the tools that it is done with. Specific goals are to learn about the different categories that monitoring services can take and to showcase a custom web service monitoring tool and its further development. The subject is important to the case company LogiNets, which has specific monitoring requirements that need to be fulfilled. These goals were achieved by researching literature on different types of monitoring tools for a literature review and then doing a case study of monitoring tool development. The case study was done about adding a new functionality to LogiNets’s indoor web service monitoring tool called Agent. The literature review was successful in identifying different categories of monitoring tools both by their location relative to the monitored service as well as by the quality of service requirements they fulfill. The review did not, however, discover significant research about existing commercial monitoring tools, and thus provided little help in the case study. The case study was more successful, with the new functionality added and similar extensions planned for the future

    e-Health interventions targeting pain-related psychological variables in fibromyalgia: a systematic review

    There is growing evidence to support the potential benefit of e-Health interventions targeting psychosocial outcomes and/or pain-related psychological variables for chronic pain conditions, including fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS). This systematic review aims at providing an in-depth description of the available e-Health psychological and/or multicomponent interventions for patients with FMS. Searches were made in PubMed, Cochrane, Web of Science, and PsycINFO up to 15 May 2023, finally including twenty-six articles. The quality of the included articles was medium–high (average quality assessment score of 77.1%). 50% of studies were randomized controlled trials (RCTs) (n = 13), and the majority of them focused exclusively on adult patients with FMS (n = 23) who were predominantly female. Four categories of e-Health modalities were identified: web-based (n = 19), mobile application (m-Health) (n = 3), virtual reality (VR) (n = 2), and video consulting (n = 2). Interventions were mainly based on the cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach (n = 14) and mostly involved contact with a healthcare professional through different digital tools. Overall, a growing number of psychological and multicomponent interventions have been created and delivered using digital tools in the context of FMS, showing their potentiality for improving psychosocial outcomes and pain-related psychological variables. However, some digital tools resulted as underrepresented, and the literature on this topic appears highly heterogeneous precluding robust conclusions

    A Closer Look into Recent Video-based Learning Research: A Comprehensive Review of Video Characteristics, Tools, Technologies, and Learning Effectiveness

    People increasingly use videos on the Web as a source for learning. To support this way of learning, researchers and developers are continuously developing tools, proposing guidelines, analyzing data, and conducting experiments. However, it is still not clear what characteristics a video should have to be an effective learning medium. In this paper, we present a comprehensive review of 257 articles on video-based learning for the period from 2016 to 2021. One of the aims of the review is to identify the video characteristics that have been explored by previous work. Based on our analysis, we suggest a taxonomy which organizes the video characteristics and contextual aspects into eight categories: (1) audio features, (2) visual features, (3) textual features, (4) instructor behavior, (5) learners activities, (6) interactive features (quizzes, etc.), (7) production style, and (8) instructional design. Also, we identify four representative research directions: (1) proposals of tools to support video-based learning, (2) studies with controlled experiments, (3) data analysis studies, and (4) proposals of design guidelines for learning videos. We find that the most explored characteristics are textual features followed by visual features, learner activities, and interactive features. Text of transcripts, video frames, and images (figures and illustrations) are most frequently used by tools that support learning through videos. The learner activity is heavily explored through log files in data analysis studies, and interactive features have been frequently scrutinized in controlled experiments. We complement our review by contrasting research findings that investigate the impact of video characteristics on the learning effectiveness, report on tasks and technologies used to develop tools that support learning, and summarize trends of design guidelines to produce learning video

    Meta-Analysis of Diagnostic Accuracy of M-CHAT by Categorical Rank of Clinical Diagnosis

    This study is a systematic review and meta-analysis of published Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M-CHAT) screening studies. The purpose of this study was to determine if the quality of clinical reference outcomes across M-CHAT screening studies relates to reported diagnostic accuracy metrics. PRISMA guidelines were implemented and 3631 records were collected from 3 main databases: EBSCO, Web of Science, and PROQUEST. 22 studies with 24 sample sets then had their psychometric data directly reported and were ranked using an adaptation framework for ranking the quality of clinical reference standard categories. The data was analyzed using a random effects bivariate Reitsma model and meta-regression. The relationship was explored between clinical reference standard criteria and the diagnostic accuracy measures of Sensitivity, Specificity and the Diagnostic Odds Ratio. The results indicate that there is not a linear relationship between increases in reference standard quality and decreases in diagnostic accuracy metrics, but clinical reference standard categories may have an impact on reported accuracy. In the future, researchers should consider the quality reference standards when conducting diagnostic accuracy studies of autism screening tools

    ResumoObjetivo: Identificar ferramentas/recursos de educação em saúde utilizados com adolescentes durante a pandemia COVID-19. Métodos: Revisão integrativa, cuja busca ocorreu durante o mês de janeiro de 2022, nas bases de dados National Library of Medicine/PUBMED (PMC), Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science e Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL).Resultados: A amostra foi constituída por 22 artigos, cujos temas encontrados deram origem a quatro categorias: ferramentas/recursos de educação em saúde focados na prevenção e redução de agravos relacionados à saúde mental (oito estudos); ferramentas/recursos de educação em saúde focados na promoção de hábitos de vida saudáveis (cinco estudos); ferramentas/recursos de educação em saúde focados no estabelecimento de sentimentos ligados ao bem-estar (Dois estudos); e ferramentas/recursos de educação em saúde de temas variados (sete estudos). Conclusão: As ferramentas/recursos de educação em saúde voltadas para a saúde dos adolescentes foram abordadas, principalmente no contexto sobre prevenção e redução de agravos relativos à saúde mental, desencadeados pelo cenário da pandemia COVID-19.Objective: To identify Health Education tools/resources used with adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic.Methods: An integrative review conducted during January 2022 in the following databases: National Library of Medicine National/PUBMED (PMC), Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL). Results: The sample consisted of 22 articles, and the topics identified gave rise to four categories: Health Education tools/resources focused on preventing and reducing mental health-related problems (eight studies); Health Education tools/resources focused on promoting healthy lifestyle habits (five studies); Health Education tools/resources focused on establishing well-being-related feelings (two studies); and Health Education tools/resources on various topics (seven studies).Conclusion: The Health Education tools/resources focused on adolescents' health were mainly discussed in the context of preventing and reducing mental health-related problems triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic scenario

    A review of the state of the art in tools and techniques used to evaluate remanufacturing feasibility

    Remanufacturing often seems a sensible approach for companies looking to adopt sustainable business plans to achieve long term success. However, remanufacturing must not be treated as a panacea for achieving a sustainable business, as issues such as market demand, product design, end of life condition and information uncertainty can affect the success of a remanufacturing endeavour. Businesses therefore need to carefully assess the feasibility of adopting remanufacturing before committing to a particular activity or strategy. To aid this decision process, a number of tools and techniques have been published by academics. However, there is currently not a formal review and comparison of these tools and how they relate to the decision process. The main research objective of this study has therefore been to identify tools and methods which have been developed within academia to support the decision process of assessing and evaluating the viability of conducting remanufacturing, and evaluate how they have met the requirements of the decision stage. This has been achieved by conducting a content analysis. Three bibliographic databases were searched (Compendex, Web of Science and Scopus) using a structured keyword search to identify relevant literature. The identified tools were then split into 6 categories based upon the specific decision stages and applications, then evaluated against a set of key criteria which are, the decision factors (economic, environmental, social) and the inclusion of uncertainty. The key finding of this study has been that although decision factors are generally well covered, operational tools and the use of uncertainty are often neglected

    Impact of digital assistive technologies on the quality of life for people with dementia: a scoping review

    Background Digital assistive technologies (DATs) have emerged as promising tools to support the daily life of people with dementia (PWD). Current research tends to concentrate either on specific categories of DATs or provide a generic view. Therefore, it is of essence to provide a review of different kinds of DATs and how they contribute to improving quality of life (QOL) for PWD. Design Scoping review using the framework proposed by Arksey and O’Malley and recommendations from Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews. Data sources Cochrane, Embase, PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science (January 2013 to May 2023). Eligibility criteria for selecting studies Completed scientific literature with a primary focus on DATs for PWD, perspectives of caregivers, family members or healthcare workers in relation to a PWD, people living in diverse settings and all severities of dementia. Data extraction and synthesis Screening and data extraction were conducted, followed by quantitative and qualitative analyses using thematic analysis principles and Digital Therapeutics Alliance categories for DAT grouping. Results The literature search identified 6083 records, with 1056 duplicates. After screening, 4560 full texts were excluded, yielding 122 studies of different designs. The DATs were categorised into digital therapeutics (n=109), patient monitoring (n=30), digital diagnostics (n=2), care support (n=2) and health system clinical software (n=1). These categories were identified to impact various aspects of QOL: preserving autonomy, engagement, and social interaction, health monitoring and promotion, improving activities of daily living, improving cognition, maintaining dignity, managing behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia and safety/surveillance. Conclusions Various DATs offer extensive support, elevating the QOL of PWD. Digital therapeutics are predominantly used for ageing-in-place and independent living through assistance with daily tasks. Future research should focus on less-represented digital health technology categories, such as care support, health & wellness or software solutions. Observing ongoing DAT developments and their long-term effects on QOL remains essential

    A Systematic Review of the Implementation of Lean Six Sigma Tools to Improve the Logistics of Retail Businesses

    Currently, retail businesses must be as competitive as possible, and for this, their logistics system must be efficient and optimal; however, it is known that these have various problems such as longer delivery times, product delivery errors, offering a quality of service that meets customer expectations, etc. To solve these problems, the implementation of Lean Six Sigma tools was proposed, and a systematic review of the literature was carried out to determine which Lean Six Sigma tool is the most frequent and expose the benefits provided to the logistics system of retail businesses. A combination of keywords was used in prestigious databases such as Web of Science, Scopus and Pro-Quest to search for academic articles. On the other hand, for the analysis and classification of each article, categories and subcategories were used for synthesizing the information from each research work. To determine which tool is the most frequent, the number of articles were quantified if they applied an LSS tool and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Regarding the results, after carrying out the systematic review of the literature, the DMAIC tool was the most frequent and provided benefits such as a reduction in the number of complaints, a reduction in lead time, operations costs reduction, among others
