A Partial Test and Development of the DeLone and McLean Model of IS Success

    Get PDF
DeLone and McLean’s (1992) comprehensive review of different information system success measures concludes with a model of interrelationships between six IS Success constructs. This paper critically examines the meaning of four of these constructs and the evidence of relationships between them. It then provides results from an empirical test of these relationships. TheempiricalresultsprovidesubstantialsupportforDeLoneandMcLean’smodel. Threefactors,System Quality, Information Quality, and Usefulness, are found to explain 72% of the variance in the overall User Satisfaction measure. Three factors, System Quality, Information Quality, and a measure of the importance of the system to the user, User Involvement, are found to explain 56% of the variance in Usefulness. The paper concludes that of the four measures studied, the best “omnibus” measure of IS success is User Satisfaction. This can be measured using the simple four-question instrument presented in the study

EDMS Use in Local E-Government: Extent of Use and Overall Performance Mediated by Routinization and Infusion

This study analyzes the effects of several post-adoption behaviors (extent of use, routinization and infusion) on overall performance in using an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). Furthermore, we test whether the routinization and infusion variables mediate the influence of the extent of use on overall performance. This research collects data from a survey answered by 2,175 employees (EDMS users) of Portuguese municipalities. The Partial Least Squares technique is applied to test the model. The results showed that routinization is directly predicted by the extent of use, whereas infusion is directly affected by the extent of use and also by routinization. Consequently, such post-adoptive behaviors are interrelated not only in a sequential process, but also in parallel. In addition, overall performance is directly influenced by routinization and infusion. Finally, an indirect effects analysis shows that routinization and infusion mediate the relationship between extent of use and overall performance

THE EFFECTS OF COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE ON THE SUCCESS OF AN EXPERT RECOMMENDING SERVICE

This article presents an explorative study of the impact of Communities of Practice (CoPs) on the success of a certain category of Knowledge Management Systems, hereafter called Expert Recommender Information Systems. They regroup Information Systems that identify and display individuals who have been qualified by the system as experts, and who are in a position to help users solve problems involving a business process breakdown. Rather than focusing on the Expert Recommending Information System itself, the author concentrates on the service it delivers, the Expert Recommending Service (ERS). Using multiple case study research, five different organizations were investigated, essentially in order to identify how CoPs influence the success of their ERS.IS success; Communities of Practice; Expert Recommending Services; Experts

Factors Affecting the Success of E-Learning-Based Training using Learning Management System Platforms: Adaptations of Updated DeLone and McLean Models

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to determine the factors, both direct and indirect, that affect the success of the learning management systems implemented in the Ministry of Education's “Sekolah Penggerak” training program. The DeLone-McClean IS Success Model was modified to be used as the study's analysis tool. The study employed a quantitative method with 122 samples. The survey technique employing Google Forms was used in the data collection process. The Partial Least Square Structural Model was analyzed using the Smart-PLS 3.0 software. As the t-statistic value was more than 1.96 and the p-value was less than 0.05, all hypotheses testing direct influence on success were accepted. Only four of the thirteen hypotheses on indirect influence were rejected. In conclusion, the DeLone-McClean IS Success Model can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of a learning management system in various e-learning activities
