This research article proposes data hiding technique for improving the data hiding procedure and securing the data transmission with the help of contrast mapping technique along with advanced data encryption standard. High data hiding capacity, image quality and security are the measures of steganography. Of these three measures, number of bits that can be hidden in a single cover pixel, bits per pixel (bpp), is very important and many researchers are working to improve the bpp. We propose an improved high capacity data hiding method that maintains the acceptable image quality that is more than 30 dB and improves the embedding capacity higher than that of the methods proposed in recent years. The method proposed in this paper uses notational system and achieves higher embedding rate of 4 bpp and also maintain the good visual quality. To measure the efficiency of the proposed information hiding methodology, a simulation system was developed with some of impairments caused by a communication system. PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise ratio) is used to verify the robustness of the images. The proposed research work is verified in accordance to noise analysis. To evaluate the defencing performance during attack RS steganalysis is used

Pixel value differencing steganography techniques: Analysis and open challenge

Steganography is the science of secret data communication using carrier medium, such as images, videos, text, and networks. Image steganography is majorly divided into spatial and frequency domains. Pixel value differencing (PVD) considered as good steganographic algorithm due to its high payload and good visual perception in spatial domain. The purpose of this paper is two folded. First is the critical analysis of current PVD methods using evaluating parameters (payload, visual quality and resistance of attacks) and secondly it highlights the current promising directions on PVD steganographic research

Recently, Steganography is an outstanding research area which used for data protection from unauthorized access. Steganography is defined as the art and science of covert information in plain sight in various media sources such as text, images, audio, video, network channel etc. so, as to not stimulate any suspicion; while steganalysis is the science of attacking the steganographic system to reveal the secret message. This research clarifies the diverse showing the evaluation factors based on image steganographic algorithms. The effectiveness of a steganographic is rated to three main parameters, payload capacity, image quality measure and security measure. This study is focused on image steganographic which is most popular in in steganographic branches. Generally, the Least significant bit is major efficient approach utilized to embed the secret message. In addition, this paper has more detail knowledge based on Least significant bit LSB within various Images formats. All metrics are illustrated in this study with arithmetical equations while some important trends are discussed also at the end of the paper

A New Optimization Strategy for Solving the Fall-Off Boundary Value Problem in Pixel-Value Di®erencing Steganography

    Get PDF
In Digital Image Steganography, Pixel-Value Di®erencing (PVD) methods use the di®erence between neighboring pixel values to determine the amount of data bits to be inserted. The main advantage of these methods is the size of input data that an image can hold. However, the fall- o® boundary problem and the fall in error problem are persistent in many PVD steganographic methods. This results in an incorrect output image. To ¯x these issues, usually the pixel values are either somehow adjusted or simply not considered to carry part of the input data. In this paper, we enhance the Tri-way Pixel-Value Di®erencing method by ¯nding an optimal pixel value for each pixel pair such that it carries the maximum input data possible without ignoring any pair and without yielding incorrect pixel values

A Framework for Multimedia Data Hiding (Security)

With the proliferation of multimedia data such as images, audio, and video, robust digital watermarking and data hiding techniques are needed for copyright protection, copy control, annotation, and authentication. While many techniques have been proposed for digital color and grayscale images, not all of them can be directly applied to binary document images. The difficulty lies in the fact that changing pixel values in a binary document could introduce Irregularities that is very visually noticeable. We have seen but limited number of papers proposing new techniques and ideas for document image watermarking and data hiding. In this paper, we present an overview and summary of recent developments on this important topic, and discuss important issues such as robustness and data hiding capacity of the different techniques
