Supporting information needs of senior citizens in community aged care
To address the challenge of an ageing population in an information society, it is important to introduce information systems to assist the aged people in maintaining and improving their quality of life. An understanding of what information aged people need, how they seek and use information, and how they adopt Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is required. This paper reports the findings of an empirical study undertaken in Australia to understand the information needs of senior citizens who reside in the community. The study aims to understand how ICT can support the independent living of senior people in the community from both the social and health perspectives. We offer a new understanding of the information needs of aged people in the community and extend the information systems research in aged care. This research also contributes to the development of innovative ICT enabled aged care service solutions in community aged care.<br /
Introducing health information systems to aged care in Vietnam
Similar to many other countries worldwide, Vietnam is facing a challenge of an ageing population. This challenge is even more difficult to overcome because Vietnam is a developing country lacking an established aged care infrastructure and system. Many aspects of aged care have largely been relied on families of aged people due to a strong influence of Confucian philosophy. Looking after aged parents has always been seen as a responsibility and filial piety of children and their extended families. Therefore, providing healthcare for aged people in their family and community context is important. The paper offers a rich description and an analysis of the current situation of the health state of and healthcare for aged people in Vietnam. The paper also suggests directions for integrating information communication technology into aged care in Vietnam.<br /
Social and behavioral determinants of health in the era of artificial intelligence with electronic health records: A scoping review
Background: There is growing evidence that social and behavioral determinants
of health (SBDH) play a substantial effect in a wide range of health outcomes.
Electronic health records (EHRs) have been widely employed to conduct
observational studies in the age of artificial intelligence (AI). However,
there has been little research into how to make the most of SBDH information
from EHRs. Methods: A systematic search was conducted in six databases to find
relevant peer-reviewed publications that had recently been published. Relevance
was determined by screening and evaluating the articles. Based on selected
relevant studies, a methodological analysis of AI algorithms leveraging SBDH
information in EHR data was provided. Results: Our synthesis was driven by an
analysis of SBDH categories, the relationship between SBDH and
healthcare-related statuses, and several NLP approaches for extracting SDOH
from clinical literature. Discussion: The associations between SBDH and health
outcomes are complicated and diverse; several pathways may be involved. Using
Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology to support the extraction of SBDH
and other clinical ideas simplifies the identification and extraction of
essential concepts from clinical data, efficiently unlocks unstructured data,
and aids in the resolution of unstructured data-related issues. Conclusion:
Despite known associations between SBDH and disease, SBDH factors are rarely
investigated as interventions to improve patient outcomes. Gaining knowledge
about SBDH and how SBDH data can be collected from EHRs using NLP approaches
and predictive models improves the chances of influencing health policy change
for patient wellness, and ultimately promoting health and health equity.

Information needs in community aged care
This paper focuses on the information needs and behaviours of senior citizens and their carers in the community. Two case studies concerning elderly stroke patients and their carers are described and discussed. Analysis of the case study data reveals a number of themes including the actual information needs and information behaviours of the senior citizens, the importance of proxy information seekers and advocates and the need for usable, accessible and useful tool to support the needs of care recipients. A preliminary framework is developed that highlights important aspects of supporting the information needs of care recipients and carers in community aged care. Finally we suggest opportunities for technology interventions that address various information needs of senior citizens in the community.<br /
Method and approach Mapping for Agri-food Supply Chain Risk Management: A literature review
One of the agri-food characteristics is perishable product which made it has a higher chance damage risk from the farmer to the consumer. While issues around food security and associated risks are extremely important. Some methods or approaches have been used to identify and assess risks that occur in agri-food supply chain. The purpose of this paper was to identify the development of methods or approaches used to identify and assess the risks that occured in the agri-food supply chain. The articles search was undertaken through articles search on selected relevant journals of supply chain risk management for agri-food published from 2004 until 2014. A total of 77 randomly selected journal articles had been analyzed. These mapping were arranged in systematic stages, started from searches related supply chain risk management for agrifood. Furthermore, the articles identified and classified the methods or approaches for each stage of supply chain risk management, and were divided into three main stages: risk identification, risk assessment and risk mitigation. The last, the articles of risk identification are categorized into three groups : qualitative, semi-quantitative and qualitative. The mapping results showed that risk assessment supply chain for agri-food was much related to microbiology risk assessment. It related to the characteristics of agri-food products. Standard models used for risk assessment in supply chain for agri-food were based on integration of statistical analysis and simulation. The other techniques used included intelligent technique, optimization models and multi-criteria decision analysis. The literature on supply chain risk management for agri-food is so vast, complex and difficult to understand that a mapping of method and approach is needed and much value for the research community.
