THE DYNAMICS OF THE MATRICS STRUCTURE

    Get PDF
The relationships organization-suppliers-customers have recently known major changes in the structure of services and have made the organization develop its managerial and professional competencies in order to do projects. The qualified organization is the most trust-worthy in the process of doing a project. The participation of an organization in doing projects depends on a multitude of factors. Out of these factors, the structural organization comes forth, as it represents the variable with the most important impact on a project’s quality, costs and lead time. From the organizational point of view, the matrix structure is frequently chosen for projects. The matrix structure generally coexists with the line structure. The two structures are contrastive. The line structure is based on the unity of command principle and is not open to cooperation and dialogue. The matrix structure encourages cooperation and communication, favours conflict, which is considered here a healthy and essential process. The matrix structure and the line structure claim their right to initiative. Conflict and the multidimensional integration of multiple hierarchies can be negotiated through the concept charisma – mediation, sustained by the matrix structurequalified organization, matrix structure, mono-affiliation/multi-affiliantion, projects-professions, charisma-mediation

This study presents preliminary results of the PSP Project, addressing students' soft skills development within the context of HEI. Theoretical framework is grounded in Person-Environment Fit theories (Rounds & Hesketh, 1994), and also in Evans (2001) starfish model. Study 1 aimed to identify Economics and Business graduates' Market-Valued Skills Profile, collecting data through semi-structured interviews with HR managers and former students focus groups. Study 2 assessed students' confidence level regarding skills using a self-report questionnaire (Miles & Grummon, 2006). Career development representations were also assessed (Savickas, 2002; Gonçalves, 2006). Additional data was collected through open-ended questions focusing on work and other extracurricular experiences. Results from Study 1 highlight soft skills as multidimensional construct where different interrelated skills contribute to graduates' employability. Study 2 reveals students' positive self-perception regarding those skills, although limited vocational experiences were reported.Soft Skills, Career development, higher education students; employability

Theoretical methodological basics for studying of transprofessionalism of a subject of socionomic professions

Topicality of the issue under study is caused by the changed socio-economic conditions and socio-technological development of the Russian economy, which resulted in a considerable transformation of the scope of professions in the postindustrial society: these professions disappear, those are transformed and still those appear for the first time ever. Along with conventional concepts of “profession” and “specialty”, today’s profession studies (or professiology) refer, in increasing frequency, to “transfession” - a new term denoting a type of labour activity which is realized on the basis of synthesis and convergence of professional competences belonging to different specialized scopes. Transprofessionalism as an ability to perform a wide range of specialized activities can be regarded as one of profession studies features. It is signification of socio-humanitarian technologies of development of this integral ability of specialists in the system of continuous education which conditioned topicality of this study. The purpose of this article is reviewing and generalization of bases and prerequisites of transprofessionalism as a socio-humanitarian requirement and an integral quality of a subject of socionomic professions in a dynamically changing socio-professional environment. Leading methods of studying this issue are theoretical methodological analysis of the subject and issue of the study on basis of examining and logical generalization of scientific sources; plus, hypothetic methodological and project methods can be considered. Description of the transprofessionalism phenomenon was performed with supporting on the multidimensional, trans-disciplinary, network and project approaches. The article presents a socio-humanitarian psychology-pedagogical definition of transprofessionalism, its sense-generating content, as well as criteria of transprofessionalism manifestation in a dynamically changing socio-professional environment. Topicality of the transprofessionalism phenomenon as a requirement to a subject in its integral quality demanding the qualitatively new substantial and technological training of socionomic profession specialists has been substantiated. In particular, it is stated that as the world’s and Russian socio-technological economy develops, profession as a concept loses its initial meaning as a scope of the social division of labour, while transprofessionals able to perform a wide range of professional activities become competitive and highly sought on an employment market. Materials of the article can be of interest for methodologists, methodology supervisors and pedagogues of continuous vocational education. © 2018 by the authors

Training project management complexity in postgraduate and continuing education programs: a learning strategy in the eshe (European Space of Higher Education) framework

    Get PDF
The objective of this paper is to address the methodological process of a teaching strategy for training project management complexity in postgraduate programs. The proposal is made up of different methods —intuitive, comparative, deductive, case study, problem-solving Project-Based Learning— and different activities inside and outside the classroom. This integration of methods motivated the current use of the concept of ―learning strategy‖. The strategy has two phases: firstly, the integration of the competences —technical, behavioral and contextual—in real projects; and secondly, the learning activity was oriented in upper level of knowledge, the evaluating the complexity for projects management in real situations. Both the competences in the learning strategy and the Project Complexity Evaluation are based on the ICB of IPMA. The learning strategy is applied in an international Postgraduate Program —Erasmus Mundus Master of Science— with the participation of five Universities of the European Union. This master program is fruit of a cooperative experience from one Educative Innovation Group of the UPM -GIE-Project-, two Research Groups of the UPM and the collaboration with other external agents to the university. Some reflections on the experience and the main success factors in the learning strategy were presented in the paper
