An Adaptive Steganography Scheme Based on Visual Quality and Embedding Capacity Improvement

In this paper, a steganography technique using LSB substitution and PVD method is presented as an adaptive scheme in the spatial domain. Our method partitions the grayscale image into several non-overlapping blocks with three consecutive pixels. The embedding algorithm can both replace the secret data with the LSBs of the middle pixel and embed it in the difference values between the middle pixel and its two neighboring pixels of the cover-block. The number of secret bits is determined adaptively based on the range divisions for embedding in the difference value. We define a new range division on gray level which takes into account a larger embedding capacity for bits. After the embedding, the proposed method detects the pixels which are sensitive to hyper distortion. Then, the embedding process will be repeated to produce insignificant visual distortion in those pixels. Our experimental results demonstrate that this iterative steganography scheme prevents significant visual distortion into stego-image. The generated PSNR values are higher than the corresponding values of the most commonly used methods, discussed in this study. Furthermore, the experimental results show that the hiding capacity increased enormously when the proposed range division is used. Finally, we illustrate that the method can pass RS and steganalysis detector attacks.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v4i4.630

Web is the prominent correspondence media now a days yet message exchange over the web is confronting a few issue, for example, copyright control, information security, information, confirmation and so forth. Information stowing away assumes a critical part in information security. It is a procedure in which mystery information or data is put away or covered up into cover media. Thus many explores are advancing on the field like web security, steganography, and cryptography. At the point when exchange the safe or private information over a shaky channel it is expected to encode cover or unique information and after that insert the protected information into that unique or, on the other hand cover picture

Recently, Steganography is an outstanding research area which used for data protection from unauthorized access. Steganography is defined as the art and science of covert information in plain sight in various media sources such as text, images, audio, video, network channel etc. so, as to not stimulate any suspicion; while steganalysis is the science of attacking the steganographic system to reveal the secret message. This research clarifies the diverse showing the evaluation factors based on image steganographic algorithms. The effectiveness of a steganographic is rated to three main parameters, payload capacity, image quality measure and security measure. This study is focused on image steganographic which is most popular in in steganographic branches. Generally, the Least significant bit is major efficient approach utilized to embed the secret message. In addition, this paper has more detail knowledge based on Least significant bit LSB within various Images formats. All metrics are illustrated in this study with arithmetical equations while some important trends are discussed also at the end of the paper

Capacity Optimization On RGB Overlapping Block-Based Pixel Value Differencing Image Steganography With Adaptive Threshold

Pixel value differencing steganography is an image steganography that utilizes the difference of the image pixel value to embed the secret message bits. RGB overlapped block-based PVD was introduced by Prasad and Pal which uses the difference value in the pair of RGB color components of a pixel compared to using the difference value of two consecutive pixels. This approach has good performance at increasing capacity especially in images with low pixel variance values. The RGB overlapped block-based PVD algorithm uses a threshold that limits the amount of difference in the color component pairs that are allowed to embed the secret message bits. The use of a global threshold will reduce the potential for optimal capacity utilization of the container image. This study implements an adaptive threshold that uses two different types of thresholds that use the embedding bit limit and the RMSE difference of the pixels before and after the embedding process to the next pixel. This optimization is able to provide a better capacity increase with PSNR degradation from the previous algorithm which is quite low

In this digitized world maintaining the security of the secret information is a challenging task. While, sending secret information through the internet draws the attention of hackers.  The highly authenticated information can be hidden by using Steganography. Image processing plays a very important role in such stenographic techniques. The advantage of stenography can be enhanced to medical images and creation of database for a particular patient under one authentication with security. Steganography techniques used in bio-medical field to hide the person medical data like prescription, X-ray, Iris, MRI, CT scan images behind a single cover media. In this paper the embedding Schemes to store complete medical data under one authentication is done by using Spatial and transform domains. The performance of the techniques is compared and the best method to hide medical information by using steganographic techniques with high PSNR, less MSE and high SSIM is identified for different modalities. Implementation of steganography in bio-medical field yields high imperceptibility and embedding capacit

In the other hand, since secret communications and development of multimedia contents, stenography of the techniques  reflect important roles. In based are reflected stegnography system, the quality of stego image and the capacity of the cover image are important side of the image, evaluate performance and comparison of  techniques are depending on these parameters in steganography system. There are existing embedding techniques that aim to protect information, and a higher bit embedding rate is an important challenge in designing a steganographic system.  This paper highlights a literature review of the classification spatial domain (beads on pixel value) approach  of image steganography; include, (i) LSB steganography, (ii) PVD based steganography, (iii)GLM based steganography, (iv) PPM based steganography.
