    GOPE: A MVC driven mobile framework using HTML5 for pervasive device container

    Mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets have become part of our life these days. Well designed mobile applications for business specific mobile commerce are still very lacking. GOPE is designed to allow group-buy consumers to access to an online group-buy commerce portal with ease, efficiency and flexible functional needs. The GOPE mobile application offers few key features: location selecting option, deals viewing and selecting option, deals sharing, mobile log in, payment on-the -move, and user account management. The proposed mobile framework is designed using Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern with ‘hoke’ to enrich the group buy flexible functional requirements. The GOPE MVC ‘hoke’ technique has successfully fulfill the objective of the project. The GOPE prototype has been tested with a select group of testers and it has demonstrated to have achieved goals of the project

Copyright @ 2013 Elsevier B.V.This study aimed to identify factors that influence user attitudes towards mobile recommender systems and to examine how these factors interact with cultural values to affect attitudes towards this technology. Based on the theory of reasoned action, belief factors for mobile recommender systems are identified in three dimensions: functional, contextual, and social. Hypotheses explaining different impacts of cultural values on the factors affecting attitudes were also proposed. The research model was tested based on data collected in China, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. Findings indicate that functional and social factors have significant impacts on user attitudes towards mobile recommender systems. The relationships between belief factors and attitudes are moderated by two cultural values: collectivism and uncertainty avoidance. The theoretical and practical implications of applying theory of reasoned action and innovation diffusion theory to explain the adoption of new technologies in societies with different cultures are also discussed.National Research Foundation of Korea Grant funded by the Korean governmen

    Why to use mobile technology?

    No holistic portrayal exists to map and discuss values deriving from mobile technology use. This empirical paper addresses this gap. To address research purpose adapted grounded theory approach is applied to collect and analyse in-depth interviews with twenty-eight SME managers. This study concludes that mobile technology represents novel and unique category of technology. Whether MT is a simple mean to advanced communication with no physical boundaries of time and location or a business tool to boost creative thinking, this study concludes that MT is different to fixed network and stationary desktop IT because of its core distinctive feature, being mobile. True nature of MT lies in seeing MT as a source of value that derives from using MT. Ultimately by mapping distinctive to MT values and factors that form these values this study endeavors to transform business practitioners’ view of mobile technology as purely technically MT to strategic tool that drives new ways in exploiting ubiquitous technology

    Mobile Commerce and Applications: An Exploratory Study and Review

    Mobile commerce is enabling the development of additional revenue streams for organizations through the delivery of chargeable mobile services. According to the European Information Technology Observatory, the total amount of revenue generated by mobile commerce was reported to be less than {\pounds}9 million in the United Kingdom in 2001. By 2005 this had, at least, doubled and more recent industry forecasts project significant global growth in this area. Mobile commerce creates a range of business opportunities and new revenue streams for businesses across industry sectors via the deployment of innovative services, applications and associated information content.     Agent fabrication and its implementation for agent-based electronic commerce

    In the last decade, agent-based e-commerce has emerged as a potential role for the next generation of e-commerce. How to create agents for e-commerce applications has become a serious consideration in this field. This paper proposes a new scheme named agent fabrication and elaborates its implementation in multi-agent systems based on the SAFER (Secure Agent Fabrication, Evolution & Roaming) architecture. First, a conceptual structure is proposed for software agents carrying out e-commerce activities. Furthermore, agent module suitcase is defined to facilitate agent fabrication. With these definitions and facilities in the SAFER architecture, the formalities of agent fabrication are elaborated. In order to enhance the security of agent-based e-commerce, an infrastructure of agent authorization and authentication is integrated in agent fabrication. Our implementation and prototype applications show that the proposed agent fabrication scheme brings forth a potential solution for creating agents in agent-based e-commerce applications
