A Standardised Procedure for Evaluating Creative Systems: Computational Creativity Evaluation Based on What it is to be Creative
Computational creativity is a flourishing research area, with a variety of creative systems being produced and developed. Creativity evaluation has not kept pace with system development with an evident lack of systematic evaluation of the creativity of these systems in the literature. This is partially due to difficulties in defining what it means for a computer to be creative; indeed, there is no consensus on this for human creativity, let alone its computational equivalent. This paper proposes a Standardised Procedure for Evaluating Creative Systems (SPECS). SPECS is a three-step process: stating what it means for a particular computational system to be creative, deriving and performing tests based on these statements. To assist this process, the paper offers a collection of key components of creativity, identified empirically from discussions of human and computational creativity. Implementing feedback in creative systems : a workshop approach
One particular challenge in AI is the computational modelling and simulation of creativity. Feedback and learning from experience are key aspects of the creative process. Here we investigate how we could implement feedback in creative systems using a social model. From the field of creative writing we borrow the concept of a Writers Workshop as a model for learning through feedback. The Writers Workshop encourages examination, discussion and debates of a piece of creative work using a prescribed format of activities. We propose a computational model of the Writers Workshop as a roadmap for incorporation of feedback in artificial creativity systems. We argue that the Writers Workshop setting describes the anatomy of the creative process. We support our claim with a case study that describes how to implement the Writers Workshop model in a computational creativity system. We present this work using patterns other people can follow to implement similar designs in their own systems. We conclude by discussing the broader relevance of this model to other aspects of AI

6 Seconds of Sound and Vision: Creativity in Micro-Videos
The notion of creativity, as opposed to related concepts such as beauty or
interestingness, has not been studied from the perspective of automatic
analysis of multimedia content. Meanwhile, short online videos shared on social
media platforms, or micro-videos, have arisen as a new medium for creative
expression. In this paper we study creative micro-videos in an effort to
understand the features that make a video creative, and to address the problem
of automatic detection of creative content. Defining creative videos as those
that are novel and have aesthetic value, we conduct a crowdsourcing experiment
to create a dataset of over 3,800 micro-videos labelled as creative and
non-creative. We propose a set of computational features that we map to the
components of our definition of creativity, and conduct an analysis to
determine which of these features correlate most with creative video. Finally,
we evaluate a supervised approach to automatically detect creative video, with
promising results, showing that it is necessary to model both aesthetic value
