Data compression for full motion video transmission
Clearly transmission of visual information will be a major, if not dominant, factor in determining the requirements for, and assessing the performance of the Space Exploration Initiative (SEI) communications systems. Projected image/video requirements which are currently anticipated for SEI mission scenarios are presented. Based on this information and projected link performance figures, the image/video data compression requirements which would allow link closure are identified. Finally several approaches which could satisfy some of the compression requirements are presented and possible future approaches which show promise for more substantial compression performance improvement are discussed

Initial Development toward Non-Invasive Drug Monitoring via Untargeted Mass Spectrometric Analysis of Human Skin.
Drug monitoring is crucial for providing accurate and effective care; however, current methods (e.g., blood draws) are inconvenient and unpleasant. We aim to develop a non-invasive method for the detection and monitoring of drugs via human skin. The initial development toward this aim required information about which drugs, taken orally, can be detected via the skin. Untargeted liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) was used as it was unclear if drugs, known drug metabolites, or other transformation products were detectable. In accomplishing our aim, we analyzed samples obtained by swabbing the skin of 15 kidney transplant recipients in five locations (forehead, nasolabial area, axillary, backhand, and palm), bilaterally, on two different clinical visits. Untargeted LC-MS data were processed using molecular networking via the Global Natural Products Social Molecular Networking platform. Herein, we report the qualitative detection and location of drugs and drug metabolites. For example, escitalopram/citalopram and diphenhydramine, taken orally, were detected in forehead, nasolabial, and hand samples, whereas N-acetyl-sulfamethoxazole, a drug metabolite, was detected in axillary samples. In addition, chemicals associated with environmental exposure were also detected from the skin, which provides insight into the multifaceted chemical influences on our health. The proof-of-concept results presented support the finding that the LC-MS and data analysis methodology is currently capable of the qualitative assessment of the presence of drugs directly via human skin
Dynamic Hilbert clustering based on convex set for web services aggregation
In recent years, web services run by big corporations and different application-specific data centers have all been embraced by several companies worldwide. Web services provide several benefits when compared to other communication technologies. However, it still suffers from congestion and bottlenecks as well as a significant delay due to the tremendous load caused by a large number of web service requests from end users. Clustering and then aggregating similar web services as one compressed message can potentially achieve network traffic reduction. This paper proposes a dynamic Hilbert clustering as a new model for clustering web services based on convex set similarity. Mathematically, the suggested models compute the degree of similarity between simple object access protocol (SOAP) messages and then cluster them into groups with high similarity. Next, each cluster is aggregated as a compact message that is finally encoded by fixed-length or Huffman. The experiment results have shown the suggested model performs better than the conventional clustering techniques in terms of compression ratio. Promoting Handwashing and Sanitation Behaviour Change in Low- and Middle-Income Countries: A Mixed-Method Systematic Review
This systematic review shows which promotional approaches are effective in changing handwashing and sanitation behaviour and which implementation factors affect the success or failure of such interventions. The authors find that promotional approaches can be effective in terms of handwashing with soap, latrine use, safe faeces disposal and open defecation. No one specific approach is most effective. However, several promotional elements do induce behaviour change. Different barriers and facilitators that influence implementing promotional approaches should be carefully considered when developing new policy, programming, practice, or research in this area
