Predicting Solid-State Heats of Formation of Newly Synthesized Polynitrogen Materials by Using Quantum Mechanical Calculations
We present density functional theory level predictions and analysis of the basic properties of newly synthesized high-nitrogen compounds together with 3,6-bis(2H-tetrazol-5-yl)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine (BTT) and 3,3′-azobis(6-amino-1,2,4,5-tetrazine) (DAAT), for which experimental data are available. The newly synthesized high-nitrogen compounds are based on tricycle fused 1,2,4-triazine and 1,2,4,5-tetrazine heterocycles. In this work, the molecules BTT and DAAT have been studied in order to validate the theoretical approach and to facilitate further progress developments for the molecules of interest. Molecular structural properties are clarified, and IR spectra predictions are provided to help detection of those compounds in the experiment. The energy content of the molecules in the gas phase is evaluated by calculating standard enthalpies of formation, by using a special selection of isodesmic reaction paths. We also include estimates of the condensed-phase heats of formation and heats of sublimation in the framework of the Politzer approach. The obtained properties are consistent with those new high-nitrogen compounds being a promising set of advanced energetic materials
Legal feminism and insolvency theory: A woman's touch
The impact of women’s lives and experiences on the law forms an essential part of the feminist legal movement. This article evaluates the existence of feminist ideologies in a hitherto unexplored area of the law, namely insolvency law and more specifically insolvency theory. Some main ideologies of the feminist movement are identified and contrasted with the views of
the main insolvency theories. It aims to establish whether insolvency theories may also be categorised in relation to ideologies expressed in feminist legal theory
A Model of Consistent Node Types in Signed Directed Social Networks
Signed directed social networks, in which the relationships between users can
be either positive (indicating relations such as trust) or negative (indicating
relations such as distrust), are increasingly common. Thus the interplay
between positive and negative relationships in such networks has become an
important research topic. Most recent investigations focus upon edge sign
inference using structural balance theory or social status theory. Neither of
these two theories, however, can explain an observed edge sign well when the
two nodes connected by this edge do not share a common neighbor (e.g., common
friend). In this paper we develop a novel approach to handle this situation by
applying a new model for node types. Initially, we analyze the local node
structure in a fully observed signed directed network, inferring underlying
node types. The sign of an edge between two nodes must be consistent with their
types; this explains edge signs well even when there are no common neighbors.
We show, moreover, that our approach can be extended to incorporate directed
triads, when they exist, just as in models based upon structural balance or
social status theory. We compute Bayesian node types within empirical studies
based upon partially observed Wikipedia, Slashdot, and Epinions networks in
which the largest network (Epinions) has 119K nodes and 841K edges. Our
approach yields better performance than state-of-the-art approaches for these

Radiative Non-Leptonic Kaon Decays
We investigate to what extent DANE will be able to test the Standard
Model in the confinement regime with radiative kaon decays. We concentrate on
processes which can be detected at DANE and we review briefly those
decays where only upper limits can be expected. The Standard Model predictions

The Early Palomar Program (1950-1955) for the Discovery of Classical Novae in M81: Analysis of the Spatial Distribution, Magnitude Distribution, and Distance Suggestion
Data obtained in the 1950-1955 Palomar campaign for the discovery of
classical novae in M81 are set out in detail. Positions and apparent B
magnitudes are listed for the 23 novae that were found. There is modest
evidence that the spatial distribution of the novae does not track the B
brightness distribution of either the total light or the light beyond an
isophotal radius that is 70\arcsec from the center of M81. The nova
distribution is more extended than the aforementioned light, with a significant
fraction of the sample appearing in the outer disk/spiral arm region. We
suggest that many (perhaps a majority) of the M81 novae that are observed at
any given epoch (compared with say years ago) are daughters of
Population I interacting binaries. The conclusion that the present day novae
are drawn from two population groups, one from low mass white dwarf secondaries
of close binaries identified with the bulge/thick disk population, and the
other from massive white dwarf secondaries identified with the outer thin
disk/spiral arm population, is discussed. We conclude that the M81 data are
consistent with the two population division as argued previously from (1) the
observational studies on other grounds by Della Valle et al. (1992, 1994),
Della Valle & Livio (1998), and Shafter et al. (1996) of nearby galaxies, (2)
the Hatano et al. (1997a,b) Monte Carlo simulations of novae in M31 and in the
Galaxy, and (3) the Yungelson et al. (1997) population synthesis modeling of
nova binaries. Two different methods of using M81 novae as distance indicators
give a nova distance modulus for M81 as , consistent with the
