Mobile ECG and SPO2 Chest Pain Subjective Indicators of Patient with GPS Location in Smart Cities

    Get PDF
Subjective indicators of chest pain in this article describe a system based on devices for measuring ECG (Electrocardiogram) and SPO2 (Saturation of peripheral Oxygen) signals with PPG (Photoplethysmograph). The development system used for ECG detection signals is created in the SMT technology technique. Preparing for ECG (Electrocardiogram) signal analysis is realized on the coordinator side of the WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) node and LabView application interface. Existing model RPC-50E, as SPO2 detector is used for a measurement device. SPO2 performance upgrade was realized by installing hardware module XBee PRO S2B in the function of router-end device working mode. Except for ZigBee wireless transmission technology, it leaves a possibility to expand with Bluetooth module. The technical description is strictly related to the location of the patients using the GPS signal when it comes to undesirable measuring sizes of each decentralized measuring device. Possibilities to measure beats per second (bps) is also included in the measurement device for saturation of peripheral oxygen. Smart city integration is part of upgraded hardware which operates on the level of hospital cloud. With existing smart city infrastructure, it is easier to connect mobile IoT (Internet of Things) logger of ECG and SPO2 measurements. This article describes only the main reasons for chest pain. Acute and chronic chest pain is defined with ECG signal waveforms in certain cases. Measuring graphs are based on 12 measurement points that lead to the electrocardiogram device

Do Students Get Enough Information Systems Education in the Business Core?

    Get PDF
Information Systems/Technology is a key component in today’s business infrastructures with a myriad of ever-increasing and innovative applications fuelling the drive for competitive advantage. Therefore information systems education should be a critical element in business schools programs today to appropriately prepare students to be competitive. As our university was seeking AACSB accreditation we wanted to investigate what other programs were doing for the information systems area in the business core. Therefore data was acquired from 61 peer institutions, 89% of which are AACSB-accredited. Data about the components of the business core were collected from the university websites and analysed to determine the amount of the business core curriculum devoted to information systems. Analysis indicates that 85% of the peer institutions had one information systems course and only three percent had two information systems courses

Full Paper: Development Of Digital Competences of Business Students Through E-Business Learning Based on CMS Wordpress

Digital competences play an important role in the information society. According to a study conducted at the Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology, however, many students are unable to use many online applications and their abilities are largely limited to social media. In an attempt to broaden the digital competences of economics students, an innovative curriculum has been developed to teach them how to build websites on the WordPress CMS along with an e-shop. This article presents the results of research conducted at 2 Polish universities – the public Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology and the private WSB University in Warsaw – over the last 4 years. The results of the study indicate that such new skills will allow students to enter the job market (work in CMS-based website administration jobs) or start their own business faster and better (by, for example, reducing the initial cost of setting up a website) and should be further developed. The graduates, who were also included in the additional survey, in several cases confirm that they are able to use their newly acquired competences, which have helped them in their professional and private lives

Bolstering user authentication: a kernel-based fuzzy-clustering model for typing dynamics

    Get PDF
In most information systems today, static user authentication is accomplished when the user provides a credential (for example, user ID and the matching password). However, passwords appear to be the most insecure authentication method as they are vulnerable to attacks chiefly caused by poor password hygiene. We contend that an additional, non-intrusive level of security can be achieved by analyzing keystroke biometrics and coming up with a unique biometric template of a user\u27s typing pattern. The paper proposes a new model for representing raw keystroke data collected when analyzing typing biometrics. The model is based on fuzzy sets and kernel functions. The corresponding algorithm is developed. In the static authentication problem, our model demonstrated relatively higher performance than some classic anomaly-detection algorithms, such as Mahalanobis, Manhattan, nearest neighbor, outlier counting, neural network, and the support-vector machine

Traffic analysis in a smart city

Urbanization is accelerating at a high pace. This places new and critical issues on the transition towards smarter, efficient, livable as well as economically, socially and environmentally sustainable cities. Urban Mobility is one of the toughest challenges. In many cities, existing mobility systems are already inadequate, yet urbanization and increasing populations will increase mobility demand still further. Understanding traffic flows within an urban environment, studying similarities (or dissimilarity) among weekdays, finding the peaks within a day are the first steps towards understanding urban mobility. Following the implementation of a micro-simulation model in the city of Modena based on actual data from traffic sensors, a huge amount of information that describes daily traffic flows within the city were available. This paper reports an in-depth investigation of traffic flows in order to discover trends. Traffic analyzes to compare working days, weekends and to identify significant deviations are performed. Moreover, traffic flows estimations were studied during special days such as weather alert days or holidays to discover particular tendencies. This preliminary study allowed to identify the main critical points in the mobility of the city
