    Search for the X(1812) in B±K±ωϕB^{\pm} \to K^{\pm} \omega \phi

    We report on a search for the X(1812) state in the decay B±K±ωϕB^{\pm} \to K^{\pm} \omega \phi with a data sample of 657×106657\times10^6 BBˉB\bar{B} pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+ee^+e^- collider. No significant signal is observed. An upper limit B(B±K±X(1812),X(1812)ωϕ)<3.2×107{\cal B}(B^{\pm} \to K^{\pm} X(1812),X(1812) \to \omega \phi)<3.2\times 10^{-7} (90% C.L.) is determined. We also constrain the three-body decay branching fraction to be B(B±K±ωϕ){\cal B}(B^{\pm} \to K^{\pm} \omega \phi) << 1.9 ×106\times 10^{-6} (90% C.L.).Comment: 5pages,2 figures(3 figure files). submitted to PRD(RC

    X(1812) in Quarkonia-Glueball-Hybrid Mixing Scheme

Recently a JPC=0++J^{PC}=0^{++} (X(1812)) state with a mass near the threshold of ω\omega and ϕ\phi has been observed by the BES collaboration in J/ψγωϕJ/\psi \to \gamma \omega \phi decay. It has been suggested that it is a IG=0+I^G = 0^+ state. If it is true, this state fits in a mixing scheme based on quarkonia, glueball and hybrid (QGH) very nicely where five physical states are predicted. Together with the known f0(1370)f_0(1370), f0(1500)f_0(1500), f0(1710)f_0(1710), and f0(1790)f_0(1790) states, X(1812) completes the five members in this family. Using known experimental data on these particles we determine the ranges of the mixing parameters and predict decay properties for X(1812). We also discuss some features which may be able to distinguish between four-quark and hybrid mixing schemes.Comment: 15 pages, 2 figures, 3 table

Stones and Bones: Catholic Responses to the 1812 Collapse of the Mission Church of Capistrano

This essay delves into the 1812 collapse of the Great Stone Church at California’s Mission of San Juan Capistrano and its aftermath to consider how early modern Catholics in the greater Iberian world approached the material remains of ruined churches that contained human victims. Questions explored include how Franciscan missionaries reported and reacted to the calamity, why the casualties were disproportionately Indian and female, and what survivors did with the physical remnants of broken churches. Churches that collapsed on worshippers in Arequipa, Cuzco, Lima and Lisbon prior to 1812 are mustered for comparison. Overall, a pattern emerges of Catholics separating stone from bone in these tragic situations
