    Interim estimates of divergence date and vaccine strain match of human influenza A(H3N2) virus from systematic influenza surveillance (2010–2015) in Hangzhou, southeast of China

    SummaryObjectivesIn the post-pandemic period 2010–2015, seasonal influenza A(H3N2) virus predominated in Hangzhou, southeast of China, with an increased activity and semi-annual seasons. This study utilized HA virus gene segment sequences to analyze the divergence date and vaccine strain match of human influenza A(H3N2) virus from systematic influenza surveillance in Hangzhou.MethodsVirological and serological analyses of 124 representative A(H3N2) viruses from prospective studies of systematic surveillance samples were conducted to quantify the genetic and antigenic characteristics and their vaccine strain match.ResultsBayesian phylogenetic inference showed that two separate subgroups 3C.3 and 3C.2 probably diverged from group 3C in early 2012 and then evolved into groups 3C.3a and 3C.2a, respectively, in the 2014/15 influenza season. Furthermore, high amino acid substitution rates of the HA1 subunit were found in A(H3N2) group 3C.2a variants, indicating that increased antigenic drift of A(H3N2) group 3C.2a virus is associated with a vaccine mismatch to the 2015/16 vaccine reference strain Switzerland/9715293/2013 (group 3C.3a).ConclusionsA portion of the group 3C.2a isolates are not covered by the current A(H3N2) vaccine strain. These findings offer insights into the emergence of group 3C.2a variants with epidemic potential in the imminent influenza seasons

    Vortex dynamics in phase separated Tl0.58Rb0.42Fe1.72Se2 crystals

    We report the critical current density Jc and the vortex dynamics in phase-separated Tl0.58Rb0.42Fe1.72Se2 crystals by performing magnetization measurements. Structural investigation reveals micro- and nanoscopic phase separation between 122 (superconducting) and 245 (not superconducting) phases. Micrometric phase separation refers to 245 islands with typical diameters of 2 µm embedded in a multiply-connected 122 superconducting network. Nanoscopic phase separation refers to 245 nanoprecipitates embedded in the 122 superconducting paths. The 245 nanoprecipitates with size comparable to the coherence length produce strong vortex pinning. It was observed that the temperature dependence of the flux creep rate presents a peak at intermediate temperatures and magnetic fields lower than 0.5 T. The peak is systematically suppressed as the magnetic field is increased, and it could be related with relaxation generated by double-kink excitations. Double-kinks are low-energy depinning excitations usually associated with strong pinning produced by correlated disorder.Fil: Haberkorn, Nestor Fabian.     Hunger for learning or tasting? An exploratory study of food tourist motivations visiting food museum restaurants

    Background: To allow for accurate and timely diagnosis of developmental coordination disorder (DCD) key stakeholders must be familiar with and be able to identify features of this disorder. No studies to date have investigated the awareness of DCD among key stakeholders in Australia. Methods: An online survey was complete by 494 Australian participants: primary caregivers (n = 153), teachers (n = 149), allied health professionals (n = 165) and medical professionals (n = 27). Results: DCD and related terms were among the least known childhood disorders. Approximately half of the sample were familiar with the term DCD but every stakeholder group were more familiar with the term dyspraxia. Allied health professionals demonstrated greater knowledge of the features of DCD, particularly motor features. Every stakeholder group showed poor recognition of the social and psychological effects of DCD. A relatively low percentage of allied health (53%) and medical (33%) professionals reported they had identified or diagnosed DCD and less than 20% of these felt that the DSM-5 contained adequate information to make a DCD diagnosis. Most teachers (82%) believed they should play a role in identifying early warning signs of this disorder, and 80% believed there are children in the school system who were labelled as lazy or defiant when they have motor skills impairments. Primary caregivers were supportive of a diagnosis of DCD being provided; however, only 16% were confident that a physician would provide an accurate and timely diagnosis. Conclusion: Key stakeholders play a unique and important role in the identification of children with DCD. Though most participants acknowledge the role that they play, all stakeholder groups demonstrated poor familiarity with the term DCD and low levels of knowledge about the features of this disorder. Improved familiarity and knowledge of the disorder is needed for access to appropriate services and improved long-term outcomes for this condition
