MAGIA XAMÂNICA EM TERRAS ESCANDINAVAS: AS NOÇÕES DE NOAIDEVUOHTA ENTRE AS ETNIAS SÁMIS DE ACORDO COM AS FONTES MODERNAS

Abstract

The Saami are peoples who speak Finno-Ugric languages and inhabt the Scandinavian Peninsula long before the Middle Ages. Since their culture is orally based, their religious traditions have been registered by people from outside of their religion, mainly Lutheran missionaries who were in conversion missions from the 16th to the 18th centuries and ended up encountering these peoples. Based on the History of Religions we aim to analyze the literary sources from this historical period that have given descriptions of a series of rites and beliefs associated with noaidevuohta, a Saami tradition similar to Siberian shamanism. We demonstrate how the practice of religious trance, the projection of the soul into the otherworld and the belief in auxiliary spirits were parte of this religious complex.Os sámis são povos falantes de idiomas fino-úgricos que habitam, desde antes da Idade Média, as partes mais ao norte da Península Escandinava. Por ser de base exclusivamente oral, suas tradições religiosas foram registradas por pessoas estranhas à sua religião, majoritariamente missionários luteranos que, ao longo dos séculos XVI-XVIII, estiveram em missões de conversão entre esses povos. Com base na perspectiva da História das Religiões, nosso objetivo é analisar as fontes literárias desse período que descreveram ritos e crenças associados ao noaideuvohta, uma tradição sámi semelhante ao xamanismo siberiano. Evidenciamos de que forma a prática do transe ritualístico, do desdobramento da alma para viagem ao submundo e a crença em espíritos auxiliares fizeram parte deste complexo religioso
