Socioeconomic and Environmental challenges and opportunities of green hydrogen in Magallanes: Stakeholder perspectives in El Pingüino (2022-2024)

Abstract

Este trabajo es un estudio de caso sobre la producción de hidrógeno verde en la región de Magallanes, esto debido a la amplia discusión generada en la que diversos actores de la sociedad se han involucrado y declarado al respecto. Se centra en analizar los discursos públicos de los actores que aparecen en el medio de prensa local El Pingüino entre 2022 y julio de 2024, con el objetivo de identificar a los actores involucrados, sus declaraciones, y las coincidencias o discrepancias en sus perspectivas sobre los desafíos y oportunidades socioeconómicas y ambientales que esta actividad representa para la región. De los resultados obtenidos muestran una postura favorable por parte de los actores, quienes coinciden en que esta producción ofrece oportunidades laborales y desarrollo económico para Magallanes. Sin embargo, también enfatiza en la importancia de equilibrar estos beneficios con la protección del medio ambiente. Abstract This work is a case study on the production of green hydrogen in the region of Magallanes, due to the broad discussion generated in which various actors of society have been involved and declared in this regard. It focuses on analyzing the public speeches of the actors that appear in the local press media El Pingüino between 2022 and July 2024, with the objective of identifying the actors involved, their statements, and the coincidences or discrepancies in their perspectives on the socioeconomic and environmental challenges and opportunities that this activity represents for the region. The results obtained show a favorable position on the part of the actors, who agree that this production offers employment opportunities and economic development for Magallanes. However, they also emphasize the importance of balancing these benefits with environmental protection.Versión original del auto
