Producción cinematográfica española y brecha de género: Análisis del Festival de Cine de Málaga (1998-2024)

Abstract

Women Studies in communication and audiovisual sector have been added to the production of intellectual contributions made from different areas of knowledge. The general objective is to analyze Malaga Film Festival from a gender perspective. The secondary objectives are to analyze all the editions winner list; to study the section ‘Affirming Women\u27s Rights’; and to determine the importance that equality acquires within the event. The methodological design is based on a longitudinal analysis of the event since its inception through a study of the winners list, interviews with responsible agents for equality and documentary analysis of internal and external material. Despite the fact that the interviews with those responsible reflect the interest in incorporating the gender perspective and the importance of the section ‘Affirming Women\u27s Rights’ in this endeavour, parity is far from being reflected in the winners list. Furthermore, the data collected has temporary gaps and a properly monitoring hasn´t been done in terms of the equal presence of men and women. The conclusions are focused on the gender gap that persists in Spanish Cinema through this case which is the object of study.Los estudios de mujeres en comunicación y en el sector audiovisual se han sumado a la producción de contribuciones intelectuales realizadas desde las distintas áreas de conocimiento. Se establece como objetivo general analizar con perspectiva de género el Festival de Cine de Málaga. Los objetivos secundarios consisten en analizar el palmarés de todas las ediciones; estudiar la sección \u27Afirmando los Derechos de las Mujeres\u27; y determinar la importancia que la igualdad adquiere dentro del evento. El diseño metodológico se basa en el análisis longitudinal del evento desde su creación mediante un estudio del palmarés, entrevistas a las responsables de Igualdad y análisis documental de material interno y externo. Pese a que las entrevistas a las responsables reflejan el interés por incorporar la perspectiva de género y la importancia que ha tenido la sección \u27Afirmando los Derechos de las Mujeres\u27 en tal empeño, la paridad está lejos de plasmarse en el palmarés. Asimismo, los datos recogidos tienen lagunas temporales y falta de seguimiento en cuanto a presencia equitativa de hombres y mujeres. Las conclusiones ponen el foco en la brecha de género que persiste en el cine español a través del caso objeto del estudio
