Design of a teaching strategy to strengthen reading comprehension in basic education students at the San Juan Bautista de la Salle Educational Institution in Colombia

Abstract

In the search to improve the reading comprehension of basic education students of the Juan Bautista de la Salle Educational Institution of the City of Cali-Colombia, this research was carried out with a mixed approach with a level of descriptive depth, whose objective was to design a teaching strategy to strengthen reading comprehension in basic education students, determining what level the participants were at before and after the study. 100 students from the third, fifth and ninth grades of basic education participated in this research. After the application and analysis of the instruments, the results showed that 90% of the students on this campus are at the literal level of reading comprehension and not at the critical level of comprehension, considered the ideal; Therefore, a teaching strategy was designed to improve the problem. This didactic strategy is being implemented by the Educational Institution.En la búsqueda por mejorar la comprensión lectora de los estudiantes de educación básica de la Institución Educativa Juan Bautista de la Salle de la Ciudad de Cali-Colombia, se realizó esta investigación con un enfoque mixto con un nivel de profundidad descriptivo, cuyo objetivo fue diseñar una estrategia didáctica para fortalecer la comprensión lectora en los estudiantes de educación básica, determinado en qué nivel se encontraban los participantes. En dicha investigación, participaron 100 estudiantes de tercero, quinto y noveno grado de educación básica. después de la aplicación y análisis de los instrumentos, los resultados evidenciaron que el 90% de los estudiantes de este plantel, está en el nivel literal de comprensión lectora y no en el nivel de comprensión crítico, considerado el ideal; por ello, se diseñó una estrategia didáctica para mejorar el problema.
