Abstract

The Impact of Lack of Resources on Menstrual Health and the Need for Legislative Supportand Education in Latin America” addresses the issue of menstrual poverty, whichrefers to the lack of hygiene products, adequate education, and access to sanitary servicesfor the management of menstruation. This phenomenon particularly affects adolescentsand young people in Latin America, where poverty and lack of infrastructure aggravatethe risks to menstrual health, increasing the likelihood of infections and causing an emotionaland psychological impact due to the social stigma associated with menstruation.Affected people resort to ineffective solutions, such as the use of inadequate materials,which further compromises their well-being. The study underlines the urgency of implementingpublic policies that guarantee access to menstrual hygiene products, improvesanitary infrastructure, and promote menstrual equity. It also highlights the need foreducational campaigns that eliminate stigma and promote an adequate understanding ofmenstrual health. This approach is key to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) related to health and well-being (SDG 3) and gender equality (SDG 5). Menstrualpoverty is a critical form of social inequality that requires urgent action in terms ofpublic policies, access to resources and education. Addressing this issue will not onlyimprove the health and well-being of menstruating people, but will also significantlycontribute to gender equality and social justice in Latin America.La investigación científica desempeña un papel crucial en la transformación social, extendiendo  su  impacto  más  allá  de  laboratorios  y  aulas.  Este  editorial  destaca  cómo  las universidades e instituciones científicas lideran la generación de conocimiento con aplicaciones prácticas en áreas como educación, salud pública, desarrollo económico y sostenibilidad. En educación, se han diseñado metodologías que reducen brechas en co-munidades desfavorecidas. En salud pública, los hallazgos orientan estrategias efectivas para mejorar la calidad de vida. La investigación también impulsa el emprendimiento y la economía circular, abordando desafíos como el cambio climático mediante innova-ciones sostenibles. Sin embargo, enfrenta obstáculos como financiamiento insuficiente y falta de articulación en políticas públicas. Superar estas barreras requiere colaboración interdisciplinaria, participación comunitaria y comunicación efectiva de resultados. La investigación debe ser inclusiva y orientada al bienestar colectivo, consolidando su pa-pel como herramienta transformadora para un desarrollo social equitativo y sostenibl
