El tenor italiano Pietro Ricci en Santiago de Compostela

Abstract

In the present paper we present an account of the brief period of time spent in Santiago de Compostela by the ltalian tenor Pietro Ricci. A study of the available documents shows us that he was awarded a post as tenor, after public examination, for a year (1802), on the condition that he improved his knowledge of music. He reapplied in 1 803, and despite a difference of opinion among members of the examining board, his post was extended for a further year. In July 1 803 he decided to leave, since he was not able to live on «the amount of money I receive».Breve reseña sobre la estancia en Santiago de Compostela del tenor italiano Pietro Ricci, a la luz de los documentos conservados. Se le concede la plaza de tenor, por oposición, durante un año (1802), a condición de que se perfeccione en música. En 1803 solicita ser nuevamente examinado y, a pesar de las divisiones de la comisión, se le concede un año de prórroga. En julio de 1 803 decide abandonar la plaza por no poder vivir con la dotación que goza
