Five books for the history of the university of los andes. Some considerations from ego-history to historiography and an invitation for study discussion

Abstract

Desde 1996 hemos dedicado buena parte de nuestras actividades de docencia, investigación y extensión al estudio y divulgación de la historia de la Universidad de Los Andes. Han sido nuestras herramientas: 1.Creación de la Cátedra de Historia de la ULA (Pregrado), convertida en Cátedra Libre desde 2003, y la de Proceso Histórico de la ULA (Maestría); 2. Reorganización del Archivo Histórico de la ULA al asumir la Dirección del mismo (1999-2002); 3. Asesoramiento de Memorias y Trabajos de Grado; 4. Organización de eventos académicos con la participación de diversos ponentes; 5. Coordinación de proyectos financiados por el CDCHTA-ULA; 6. Publicación de artículos, folletos y libros referidos a diversos aspectos de la historia de nuestra Alma Mater. En el presente artículo daremos cuenta de cinco de estos trabajos, publicados por distintas dependencias de la Universidad de Los Andes entre 2008 y 2014. Al final informamos sobre capítulos de libros, folletos, artículos, ponencias y conferencias, resultado de nuestra pasión por historiar a la Universidad de Los [email protected] 1996, most of our teaching, research, and community related activities have been devoted to the study and popularization of the history of the University of Los Andes (ULA). Some activities created for such an objective have been (1) the creation of the undergraduate course History of ULA, which became in Public Lecture since 2003, and the creation of the graduate course Historical Process of ULA; (2) the reorganization of the Historical Archive of the ULA while in the position of archive manager from 1999 to 2002; (3) undergraduate and graduate theses supervision; (4) the organization of public academic seminars including experts participation; (5) the coordination of research projects financed by the CDCHTA-ULA, the university office for research funding; and (6) the publication of research and popularization articles, bulletins, and books related with the history of this University. This article shows some considerations about five publications between 2008 and 2014. In the last section, some details about books, bulletins, articles, lectures, and conferences are provided as an example of the passion for reporting the history of the University of Los Andes
