Pseudoelastic behaviour of a β Ti–25Nb–3Zr–3Mo–2Sn alloy

Abstract

Tensile properties and pseudoelastic behaviour were assessed for a Ti–25Nb–3Zr–3Mo–2Sn alloy. Significant pseudoelastic behaviour was observed in both solution treated and solution treated/aged conditions which was associated with the formation of the martensic α″ phase. The solution treated condition displays the greatest pseudoelasticity. Straining of the alloy leads to a reduction in the Young's modulus proportionate to the magnitude of the strain.Corrigendum: The authors regret that there was an error in Fig. 5(a) and (b) of their manuscript. The correct title for the y axes is “Incipient Modulus (GPa)”. The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused to the readers of the journal.
