A educação infantil nas cidades do consórcio do Grande ABC e o Plano Nacional de Educação: avanços e retrocessos

Abstract

This text presents the results of an explanatory and descriptive research held in the cities of the ABC region which analyzed the supply indicators of early childhood education in this region, based on the goals of the National Education Plan (PNE) 2001- 2010 and the goal 1 of the PNE 2014-2024. The results show that in all cities investigated, the attendance goal of at least 80% of all the children aged 4 or 5, until 2010, was achieved. However, the same cannot be said for the age group of 0 to 3, because only São Caetano do Sul has met that demand. The remaining cities accounted for, in 2010, a service in kindergarten lower than the expected 50% in PNE 2001-2010. These results indicate that the cities are achieving the EC 59/2009, but the early childhood is in the background, which may compromise the success of the goal 1 of the PNE 2014-2024
