Abstract

Baroness Shephard of Northwold was Secretary of State for Education (from July 1995 also for Employment) from July 1994 until May 1997. Her predecessory, John Patten, ordered the first review of the National Curriculum under Lord Dearing. The Dearing Review was implemented in 1995. Baroness Shepherd discusses the merits of the English National Curriculum in comparison with the French. Interviewed by Nicola Sheldon
