    Get PDF
Injuries contribute to disability and morbidity in countries around the world. Among the elderly, falls are the most common type of injury, with an incidence rate of approximately 2.3–7% per 1,000 individuals. Injuries can lead to physical impairments, including reduced limb function. In the elderly population, particularly those aged 65 years and older, injuries are associated with a high risk of mortality and severe disability. Preventing injuries and falls is a critical public health concern. Families serve as essential support systems for addressing injuryrelated issues within households and the surrounding environment. This activity aimed to provide families with education on preventing and managing injuries in vulnerable populations. Health education sessions were delivered to health cadres and community members through lectures, discussions, and expert-led questionand-answer sessions. Educational materials included PowerPoint presentations and pocketbooks. At the conclusion of the sessions, a group demonstration was conducted on the management of splints in community settings. Knowledge was assessed using a questionnaire developed based on the health education materials. Fall risk screening was conducted using the First Time Injury Falls (FIF) instrument. The results revealed that among the 27 respondents, knowledge levels significantly improved after the educational sessions (p-value < 0.05). Fall risk screening outcomes indicated that 20 respondents (74.1%) were at low risk for falls, 5 respondents (18.5%) were at moderate risk, and 2 respondents (7.4%) were at high risk. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that health education is effective in enhancing family knowledge about injury prevention and management in vulnerable populations

This program aimed to maximize the potential of the cultural history tourist attraction of Braga Tourism Village, which then targets the community to understand and apply the material that has been given in the training. The activity method is in the form of exposure to quality and sustainable tourism material to maximize existing potential. This program was divided into three parts: planning and preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. This training program was well executed because the community had better post-test score results compared to the pretest. However, they still need to learn more about the positive impact of tourism on the environment and its application in the community, especially businesses that support tourism

Straw, a byproduct of rice harvesting, is a waste material from farming activities that can be repurposed as animal feed and organic fertilizer. Rice straw, when supplemented with probiotics, can enhance feed nutrition, and its high potassium content contributes to the fertility of agricultural soil. The purpose of this community service activity was to increase the knowledge of the Sri Warga farmer group about the benefits of rice straw and the application of organic waste shredding machine technology. The physical shredding of rice straw improves its quality as animal feed and accelerates the composting process for organic fertilizer. The results of the community service activity demonstrated the farmer group members’ enthusiasm for adopting organic waste shredding machine technology and utilizing rice straw. There was a notable increase in their understanding of the dual benefits of rice straw—as a nutritious animal feed and as a resource for enhancing soil quality through organic fertilizers. This activity significantly improved the knowledge and awareness of Sri Warga farmer group members about the potential uses of rice straw. A post-activity questionnaire revealed that 95% of the farmer group members understood the benefits and nutritional content of rice straw for use as organic fertilizer or animal feed, compared to only 70% before the activity. Healthcarepreneurship Training on Making Antibacterial Liquid Soap (Hand Soap) Made From Hibiscus rosa sinensis L. Extracts

    Get PDF
Healthcare is one of the critical elements of infection prevention and control, one of which can be done by maintaining hand hygiene. Hand washing with soap and flowing water has long been considered a parameter of personal hygiene and is a simple way to reduce the transmission of infections, especially those caused by hand contact between individuals. However, it must still be done by paying attention to the time and the correct way to wash hands according to WHO standards. At this time, various hand soap products have emerged but are not antibacterial. Antibacterial ingredients used as soap base should not contain various kinds of chemicals that are harmful to the health of its users. Therefore, the use of natural ingredients can be an alternative to substitute chemical active substances. One that has been tested for its antibacterial properties is hibiscus flower (Hibiscus rosa sinensis L.). This activity began with presenting the results of the screening on hand washing habits carried out 2 weeks earlier. The next activity is the introduction to making antibacterial hand soap made from hibiscus extract through material presentation and empirical evidence of the potential of hibiscus as an antibacterial, as well as videos about the importance of maintaining hand hygiene through proper hand washing regularly. The activity is expected to make the healthcare UMKM know and understand that hibiscus flowers, which are widely available around their residence, can be used as raw material for making hand soap that has been produced so far, so as to minimize the use of chemical-based antibacterials. The hand soap product produced later became a collaborative product produced by the community, and then registered a patent with the number S00202120213 on November 17th, 2021
