Interseccionalidade e imagologia nos poemas de Gessica Correia Borges

This paper aims to analyse two poems by Gessica Correia Borges from the perspective of Imagology, highlighting that she is a feminist, Black author, and is herself the «Other» in the literary panorama in Portuguese. To achieve this purpose, we refer to the importance of symbolic power and male domination that still subjugates our society (Bourdieu 2002; Bourdieu 1989) and which conditions the literary production of Black women writers, and we highlight the issue of sex and gender issues, to make it more concise. As a theoretical complement, we consider it essential to address the concepts of Intersectionality, the subaltern condition, and Black feminism, given that this is a Black poet and activist who develops her activity in this movement and because these perspectives are essential for a comprehensive analysis. Finally, we point out the most important Imagology concepts, as this is the prism through which our approach will focus, and we propose our final considerations.Este artigo pretende analisar dois poemas de Gessica Correia Borges sob o prisma da Imagologia, salientando-se que é uma autora feminista, negra, sendo ela própria a «Outra» no panorama literário em língua portuguesa. Para o efeito, referimos a importância do poder simbólico e da dominação masculina que ainda subjuga a nossa sociedade (Bourdieu 2002; Bourdieu 1989) e que condiciona a produção literária das escritoras negras e sublinhamos a problemática das questões de sexo e de género, para a tornar mais concisa. Em complemento teórico, consideramos fundamental abordar os conceitos de Interseccionalidade, da condição subalterna e do feminismo negro, atendendo a que se trata de uma poetisa e ativista negra que desenvolve a sua atividade neste movimento e porque estas perspetivas são essenciais para uma análise abrangente. Por fim, apontamos alguns conceitos de Imagologia por se tratar do prisma em que a nossa abordagem vai incidir e tecemos algumas considerações finais

A memória das coisas na expressão da dança: : Ismael Ivo e o café

The paper analyses the performance of I had too much coffee, by Ismael Ivo, directed by the German Ralf Schmerberg in 2002. From the audiovisual document, the human values expressed through the dancer’s body language bring forth the concepts of «colonial» and «decolonial». The audiovisual is rich in references to body language and can be interpreted through the concept of intrigue within Paul Ricoeur’s narrative framework. The research examines and identifies the social meanings of coffee cultural memory by understanding virtual narratives in times of dystopia and the meanings that emerge from the concept of colonialism. The study utilises the selection of audiovisual material and describes the elements of document analysis based on social theory criticism, enabling us to confront contemporary impressions and the chosen memories of the past. The analysis yields an understanding that goes beyond the immediate perceptions enabled by entertainment, thus integrating the operative arguments of social reality.O artigo analisa a performance I had too much coffee, de Ismael Ivo, dirigida pelo alemão Ralf Schmerberg em 2002. A partir do documento audiovisual, os valores humanos expressos pela linguagem corporal do dançarino trazem à tona os conceitos de «colonial», «descolonial» e «decolonial». O audiovisual é rico em referências da linguagem corporal e pode ser interpretado pelo conceito de intriga no âmbito da concepção de narrativa de Paul Ricoeur. A pesquisa analisa e identifica as significações sociais da memória cultural do café a partir da compreensão das narrativas virtuais em tempos de distopia e dos significados que emergem do conceito de colonial. O estudo se faz a partir do audiovisual e descreve os elementos da análise documental com base nas críticas da teoria social, possibilitando-nos confrontar as impressões da atualidade e as memórias eleitas do passado. Da análise procede uma compreensão que vai além das percepções imediatas que o entretenimento permite, articulando assim os argumentos operativos da realidade social

«Negros aqui brancos acolá»:: imagens do racismo na poesia de Agostinho Neto

The essay aims mainly at: 1) Identifying the condemnation of racial segregation (in Africa, Europe, and the United States of America) made by Agostinho Neto in several lyrical compositions; 2) Examine Neto’s appeal about the African imperative of returning to tradition; 3) Emphasise the value of Neto’s poetics for the rehabilitation of the black colour; 4) Putting the Angolan poet and other African writers into dialogue; 5) Determine whether Agostinho Neto’s poetics sought to deconstruct the rhetoric of colonial literature (based, among other aspects, on the infantilization of black people or even on their animalisation, on the denial of African culture and history and the legitimation of racism).Os propósitos principais do ensaio são: 1) Identificar a denúncia da segregação racial (em África, na Europa e nos Estados Unidos da América) feita por Agostinho Neto em diversas composições líricas; 2) Interpretar o apelo de Agostinho Neto sobre o imperativo africano de retorno à tradição; 3) Enfatizar o valor da poética de Neto para a reabilitação da cor negra; 4) Estabelecer diálogos entre o poeta angolano e outros escritores africanos; 5) Demonstrar que a poética de Agostinho Neto se empenhou na desconstrução da retórica da literatura colonial (assente, entre outros aspetos, na puerilização do negro ou mesmo na sua animalização, na negação da cultura e da História africanas e na legitimação do racismo)

Livros brancos, imagens negras: : uma abordagem (in)disciplinar

This paper aims to contribute with elements for the problematisation, expansion, and improvement of the study of African history textbooks in Brazilian education. Textbooks are often limited by new stereotypes, with images that erase the violence present in interracial relationships. On the other hand, the authorship of these images in textbooks still does not belong, for the most part, to black artists and intellectuals. We propose an approach to the art of Rosana Paulino, with the aim of thinking about how her work: a) incorporates elements that allow us to recognise the presence of black women in the contemporary artistic context; b) calls into question the proliferation of a vision of the world that excludes women; and c) profiles any content of African History from an anti-racist horizon.O presente trabalho pretende contribuir com elementos para a problematização, o alargamento e a melhoria do estudo dos livros didáticos da História da África no ensino brasileiro. Os livros didáticos são muitas vezes limitados por novos estereótipos, em imagens que apagam a violência presente nas relações inter-raciais. Por outro lado, a autoria dessas imagens nos livros didáticos ainda não pertence, maioritariamente, a artistas e intelectuais negros. Propomos então uma aproximação a artistas como Rosana Paulino, com o objeto de pensar o modo em que a sua obra: a) incorpora elementos que permitem reconhecer a presença da mulher negra no contexto artístico contemporâneo; b) coloca em causa a proliferação de uma visão do mundo que exclui as mulheres; e c) perspetiva qualquer conteúdo da História da África sob um horizonte antirracista

Things Fall Apart de Chinua Achebe : — texto orgulhosamente negro

Chinua Achebe, a Nigerian author, has been considered by critics as one of the most important founders of African literature, in reaction to the literature that until then had been produced on Africa. In the sequence of the most diverse colonial literary texts and the arguments that validated colonialism in Africa, always in a dimension of affirmation of white superiority and black savagery, and in which any value, history, or notion of culture was denied to African peoples, Achebe begins a mission to show the western world that pre-colonial Igbo culture had beauty, philosophy, dignity and viable social, political and judicial structures, and that it was by no means an example of the «blank slate» that many Europeans wanted people to believe. In this sense, Achebe publishes his first novel, Things Fall Apart, still in a colonial context (1958), to make his culture known, realistically and based on internal knowledge, in a counterpoint to this prejudiced and racist European devaluation.Chinua Achebe, autor nigeriano, tem sido considerado pela crítica como um dos fundadores mais importantes da literatura africana, numa reação à literatura que até aí tinha sido produzida sobre África. Na sequência dos mais diversos textos literários coloniais, e dos argumentos que validaram o colonialismo em África, sempre numa dimensão de afirmação de superioridade branca e de selvajaria negra, e em que se negava qualquer valor, História ou noção de cultura aos povos africanos, Achebe inicia uma missão de mostrar ao mundo ocidental que a cultura pré-colonial igbo possuía beleza, filosofia, dignidade e estruturas sociais, políticas e judiciais viáveis, e que não era, de forma alguma, exemplo da «tábua rasa» que muitos europeus queriam fazer crer.
