GAP-a-Farm: A tool to support GAP compliance and information based decision making in horticulture

Adoption of information technology in horticulture is low, especially in developing countries. Governments across the world issue new regulation to govern the application of good agricultural practices affecting production, storage and selling activities, while certification program require that farmers keep detailed records of farm events, for auditing purposes. These changes in the context of horticultural practices, represent an opportunity to test whether a compliance and decision support systems can shift farmers processes to utilize technology incorporating data and expert advice. GAP-a-Farm is a tool to ease record keeping, and to turn recorded data into alerts and advice. This chapter documents the key aspects of the system’s design, and reports on preliminary discussions with end-users that take part in a pilot study in Argentina

Prospective user interfaces for decision-making processes in multidimensional agriculture

Prospective user interfaces play a crucial role in supporting decision-making processes within the multifaceted landscape of agriculture. This study aims to develop a software tool that integrates prospective user interfaces with the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) model to assist in selecting agrochemicals based on criteria such as price, environmental impact, and toxicity. By leveraging dynamic visual tools and interactive interfaces, the proposed system empowers farmers and stakeholders to anticipate and evaluate future scenarios effectively in the context of diverse agricultural dimensions. The integration of prospective user interfaces with the AHP model enhances decisionmaking by providing a structured framework to prioritize criteria and alternatives. This facilitates informed and sustainable agricultural practices while addressing complex challenges related to environmental impact and economic viability. The software tool will enable users to input their preferences, weigh different criteria according to their importance, and generate recommendations based on the AHP analysis. This study highlights the importance of technological innovation in advancing decision-making capabilities within multidimensional agriculture, ultimately contributing to more efficient and responsible agricultural practices

Juventudes, usos y consumos de noticias políticas: sistematización bibliográfica latinoamericana

El objetivo de este artículo es sistematizar los principales ejes de discusión bibliográfica acerca de los y las jóvenes como consumidores de noticias políticas en medios nacionales y locales en países latinoamericanos. Los usos y consumos de noticias se han transformado en los últimos años debido a cambios causados por la creciente polarización en la información política y su influencia en la confianza en el periodismo tradicional, especialmente entre los y las jóvenes que optan por las redes sociales como fuentes alternativas. Se agrega a esto la propagación de la desinformación deliberada, información errónea y mala información, exacerbada por la saturación informativa y la infodemia. Mediante una metodología de revisión bibliográfica se lleva a cabo un recorrido que permite realizar ciertas afirmaciones a modo de resultados acerca de la influencia de los desórdenes informativos en un entorno digital cada vez más abarcativo y la importancia de la alfabetización mediática y la emergente alfabetización mediática informacional para capacitar a los individuos en la evaluación crítica de la información en medios digitales. Se presentan datos, en formatos de tablas y gráficos, de estudios en Argentina que dan cuenta de un aumento en la disponibilidad de la información digital, que tiene que ver con el contenido que las personas aportan a las plataformas y sus reacciones a este. A modo de conclusión, este artículo emplea un enfoque multifacético para abordar los desafíos planteados por el entorno mediático en evolución, enfatizando la importancia de la educación en alfabetización mediática, el periodismo responsable y las campañas de concienciación pública. En última instancia, la búsqueda de alfabetización mediática y periodismo responsable no es solo una cuestión de empoderamiento personal, sino también un esfuerzo colectivo para defender los principios fundamentales de la democracia y proteger la integridad del discurso público.The objective of the article is to systematize the main axes of bibliographic discussion regarding young people as consumers of political news in national and local media in Latin American countries. Características clínicas de la esquizofrenia de inicio muy temprano: a propósito de un caso

La esquizofrenia de inicio muy temprano es un trastorno psiquiátrico poco frecuente. Presenta criterios diagnósticos similares a la población adulta, sin embargo los niños presentan cuadros clínicos con características particulares. El inicio es más insidioso, hay mayor sintomatología premórbida, con etapas poco diferenciadas, menor respuesta al tratamiento, más hospitalizaciones y por lo tanto, peor pronóstico. Cuando la esquizofrenia inicia antes de los 13 años de edad, se asocia con mayor carga genética que en las presentaciones que inician en la adultez y con hallazgos en neuroimágenes similares. Se presenta un caso clínico de un niño de 8 años de edad con sintomatología compatible con esquizofrenia de inicio muy temprano.LVery early onset schizophrenia is a rare psychiatric disorder. It presents similar diagnostic criteria to the adult population, however, children present clinical symptoms with particular characteristics. The very early onset schizophrenia presentation is more insidious, there are greater premorbid symptoms with poorly differentiated stages, less response to treatment, more hospitalizations and, therefore, a worse prognosis. When schizophrenia begins before the age of 13, it is associated with a greater genetic load than presentations that begin in adulthood and with similar neuroimaging findings. A clinical case of an 8-year-old boy with symptoms compatible with very early onset schizophrenia is presented

Incrementally updating Concept Lattices in Arbitrarily Distributed Formal Contexts

Decision-making can be fostered by knowledge extraction methods such as that of Formal Concept Analysis (FCA). On top of that, information is not available as a whole at all times in certain contexts, such as when it is distributed, and consulting all of it would be too timeconsuming. However, there only exists one algorithm for concept lattice batch computation that does not require full knowledge of the entire set of attributes. But batch algorithms are not best suited for stream processing. For that reason, in this article, we present an incremental algorithm for computing a concept lattice coming from an arbitrarily distributed formal context. And finally, we compare its complexity with that of the existing distributed algorithm

Lengua de señas con una mirada integral a todo el equipo de salud

En agosto de 2023 comenzó en nuestro Hospital un proyecto que contempla un problema real en la comunidad sorda, surgiendo la necesidad de dar respuesta a esta problemática, postergada e invisibilizada por años como ser la inclusión de personas sordas. La comunidad hospitalaria (pacientes, padres, empleados) también precisa dar una respuesta eficaz a esta necesidad comunicativa, para lo cual brindar las herramientas de comunicación básicas, demostrando el máximo respeto hacia la Cultura e Identidad sorda. En marzo de 2025 inició, a cargo de Enfermería, el dictado del tercer curso destinado a estudiantes del H.I.A.E.P. “Sor María Ludovica”

Agroknowledge: co-creation of a repository of agricultural best practices, to improve knowledge disemination and interoperability

Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), as defined by FAO, are a "collection of principles for on-farm production and post-production processes, resulting in safe and healthy food and non-food agriculture products, while considering economic, social and environmental sustainability." GAP are about understanding, planning and measurement, record, and management to achieve specific social, environmental, and productive objectives. GAPs goals are: to ensure food safety, to produce in a way that protects the environment and avoids its degradation, to ensure job well-being, and to obtain quality products according to consumer demand. For example, FAO enumerates general categories such as GAP for food safety, to improve market access or ensure water quality. GAP can be achieved by different actions depending on the crop, geography, available tools, and a diversity of variables. A federated catalog of GAPs that could be accessed by different stakeholders using different aspects is desirable. Also, as there are a diversity of GAPs experiences in the world, a catalog about those experiences is a helpful tool to help farmers exchange and adoption of knowledge. This chapter presents a semantic wiki repository that focuses on GAPs related to intensive horticultural activity in aspects that may be subject to improvement. The repository is framed in what is currently considered a collaborative repository. The wiki includes a description, goals, and methodologies of each good practice defined in GAP. Also, the wiki contains links to tutorials, external sites about the agricultural field, and legal documentation

Rethinking Breath in VR: A Performative Approach to Enhance User Flow with Bio-sensing Wearable Interfaces

Asignificant number of Virtual Reality (VR) applications focus on mindfulness, using biosensor technologies (e.g., ECG) to provide real-time feedback on users’ physiological states. However, the measurement of data for the human body is complex. Commercial devices often lack precision, while medical-grade sensors require controlled environments, which can lead to disruptions and break immersion, affecting the flow of VR experiences. Thus, complicating the evaluation of mindfulness. Pinch To Awaken XR is a VR art game that utilizes wearable interfaces to measure breathing from a holistic perspective. Showcased as an Extended Reality (XR) performance, it uses first-person research methods by embodying both the researcher and performer, placing the body as the central source of inquiry. This case study reveals that integrating a performative approach can enhance the flow and engagement in mindfulness VR experiences, while also offering a novel approach for evaluating biosensing interfaces in HCI user studies, using a body-centered design
