Dataset of “Mastering palladium catalyzed cross-coupling reactions: the Critical role of in situ pre-catalyst reduction design”

    Get PDF
The dataset contains 31 P-NMR spectra as .fid files used to characterize palladium complexes formed during the in-situ generation of Pd(0) catalysts from Pd(II) precatalysts in cross-coupling reactions. The reduction process was examined via NMR to evaluate the influence of reagents, solvents, bases, ligands, and counterions. The spectra represent the optimal results obtained from the screening of each parameter

Gendered decision making in explore-exploit tasks

    Get PDF
Many real-world scenarios involve explore-exploit decisions, balancing the pursuit of better opportunities with securing a certain but potentially suboptimal outcome. Do gendered approaches to these decisions exist? This study investigates gender differences in exploration and competition behaviour through a pre-registered lab experiment with 432 participants (50% female). Specifically, we examine behaviour in the context of the explore-exploit dilemma, both under a piece rate payment scheme and in a competitive tournament setting. Participants completed three computerized tasks: the grain game featuring the explore-exploit dilemma, which included two treatments, one allowing only gains and another incorporating both gains and losses, a risk elicitation task (BRET), and a loss aversion task. These tasks were followed by a questionnaire designed to assess various individual characteristics The results show that, contrary to the initial pre-registered hypotheses, women do not explore less than men; in fact, they explore more in environments where only gains are possible. However, no gender differences emerge in exploration when the environment entails the possibility of losses. Regarding competition, women are less likely to choose competitive settings than men in gain-only environments, but this difference disappears once individual characteristics, such as risk and loss aversion, are taken into account. These findings contribute to understanding gendered tendencies in risk-taking, exploration, and competition

Dataset on Optimizing Planting Density for Increased Resource Use Efficiency in Baby-Leaf Production of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) and Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) in Vertical Farms

    No full text
This document contains the database of measured and calculated indexes on resource use efficiency of baby-leaf production of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) and basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) in vertical farm systems. This study tested three different planting densities, namely 123 (low density, LD), 237 (medium density, MD), and 680 (high density, HD) plant m-2. Destructive measurements were performed at 15, 22, and 29 days after sowing. Light and energy use efficiency were calculated based on both dry and fresh yields. Additionally, morphological parameters (e.g., plant height and leaf area index) and physiological parameters (e.g., stomatal conductance and chlorophyll content) were measured. All data were collected at AlmaVFarm, the experimental vertical farming facility of the University of Bologna

Data about the effect of short-chain PFAS exposure during gestation and breastfeeding on alteration of learning and memory in adulthood

    No full text
The dataset includes detailed outcomes of in vivo and ex vivo tests, aimed to investigate the effect of short-chain Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) maternal exposure on neurodevelopment in rats. Animals have been exposed to two different contaminants (PFBA, Perfluorobutanoic acid; and GenX, Ammonium Perfluoro, 2-methyl-3-oxahexanoate) at two different doses (indicated as LD, low dose, and HD, high dose) indirectly, through the maternal exposure (4 weeks pre-gestation, gestation, and lactation periods). Tests include a battery of standardized behavioral performed during adult life (9 weeks after weaning), assays designed to probe distinct facets of neurological function. Motor coordination and balance were quantitatively assessed via the Rotarod test. Spontaneous locomotion, reflecting exploratory behavior and anxiety-like states, was evaluated through open-field activity. Cognitive and mnemonic abilities were thoroughly investigated using the Morris water maze. In vivo analysis have been implemented with quantification of circulating hormones and gene expression data of neurogenesis marker in the hippocampus. Furthermore, the dataset integrates cell culture data from ex vivo studies, using primary hippocampl neurons (isolated from P0 pups exposed to PFBA during gestation) providing a comprehensive view. This dataset also includes quantitative analyses of short-chain PFAS residues in key tissues (liver, kidneys, brain, and thyroid)

LATONA. Functional, toxicological and technological characterization of Limosilactobacillus vaginalis BC17

    No full text
This dataset contains data collected in the PoC MISE - AlmaValue project “LATONA” (“Lattobacilli della donna quali agenti bioterapeutici per promuovere il corretto sviluppo del microbiota intestinale e del sistema immunitario nel neonato”), funded by Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico on PNRR funds and within the framework of the European Commission's Next Generation EU programme. In particular, the research focused on the vaginal strain Limosilactobacillus vaginalis BC17 and its derivatives (cell-free supernatant and heat-killed cells), and some health-promoting features were considered: (i) L. vaginalis BC17 was indagated for the ability to adhere to intestinal cells (i.e. Caco-2 and HT-29 cells) and to survive in co-incubation with them. (ii) The absence of cytotoxicity of the strain and its derivatives was demonstrated on intestinal cells lines (i.e. Caco-2 and HT-29). (iii) Any genotoxicity effects of cell-free supernatant and heat-killed cells were excluded. (iv) L. vaginalis BC17 and its derivatives were sought for the capacity to favour the adhesion of beneficial Bifidobacterium spp. and to inhibit the adhesion of enteropathogens (i.e. enterotoxigenic E. coli, Salmonella enterica, and Yersinia enterocolitica) to Caco-2 cells. (v) Anti-inflammatory properties were highlighted both on intestinal cells and macrophages models. Moreover, the dataset provides the data relative to the development of freeze-dried tablets containing L. vaginalis BC17 or heat-killed cells in the presence of cell-free supernatant and maltodextrin. In particular, the dataset supplies raw data in terms of diameter, thickness and weight of tablets resulting from a screening procedure of different ratios of maltodextrin and cell-free supernatant. It also contains the characterization of the selected tablets in terms of diameter, thickness, weight, pH at dissolution, content uniformity, and disintegration time in different media at different temperatures. Moreover, the data set includes the stability of the selected tablets’ physical features (diameter, thickness, and weight), functional properties (impact on intestinal cells viability, impact on Bifidobacterium spp. and E. coli adhesion to Caco-2 cells, anti-inflammatory activities) and BC17 viability (only for the tablet containing the viable probiotic) over three months
