Horace’s lyric poetry presents a profuse list of wine names, and each of them plays a specific role in the poem in which it appears. In this paper we intend to gather information, such as origin, valuation in the ancient world, medical properties, etc., of the wines that Horace mentions to understand better the role played by each œnonym in his illustrious poetry.La lírica horaciana presenta un profuso elenco de nombres de vinos, hasta el punto de tener cada uno un papel específico en la composición poética en la que aparece. Revisión del Debate Etimológico sobre el Topónimo Segorbe

Based on the arrangement of primitive citations in Semitic and Latin sources, the belief that Arab texts preserve the “genuine” form of the place name Segorbe is discarded; along with the belief that the sign ? b?’<b> of the aliphate in the Arabic texts that write <Šuburb> disproves a Christian–Latin origin. A few Arabic nisba spellings collected in the Llibre del Repartiment would suffice to support this claim, as well as a mention of the Cantar del Cid. But there are still more examples of the transmission of non–Arabic place–names in Arab sources, suggesting a clear change of perspective when establishing the etymological affiliation of the word.Partiendo de la ordenación de las citas primitivas en fuentes semíticas y latinas, se desmiente la creencia de que son las fuentes árabes las que conservan la forma “genuina” del topónimo Segorbe; y la de que el signo ? b?’ <b> del alifato en los textos árabes que escriben <Šuburb> descarta todo testimonio de origen cristiano–latino. Bastaría con unas pocas grafías de nisba árabe recolectadas en el Llibre del Repartiment; e incluso con una mención del Cantar del Cid. Victorino de Petovio y el Juicio Final en su Commentarium in Apocalypsim Iohannis

The artistic–literary motif of the “Day of Judgment” underwent a long creative evolution. The Apocalypse commentaries are essential sources, and for that reason I have reviewed the first commentary known to be conserved in our days. Victorinus fixed the basic elements of the Final Judgment (Judge, Court, Punishment by Fire), but he did not explain the development of the Judgment, due the difficulty involved in harmonizing doctrine and biblical text in that first phase of Christian Patristics.El motivo artístico–literario del “Día del Juicio Final” tuvo un largo proceso creativo. Los comentarios al Apocalipsis son una de las fuentes esenciales, por lo que se ha revisado el primer comentario conservado en nuestros días. El trabajo de Victorino supuso la fijación de los elementos básicos del Juicio Final (juez, tribunal, castigo por fuego), pero no acometió la explicación del desarrollo del juicio, posiblemente debido a la dificultad que suponía armonizar doctrina y texto bíblico en esa primera fase de la patrística cristiana

Bodas Reales entre Viena y Barcelona: un Epitalamio Latino de 1708

As with other military conflicts in the early modern period, Latin played an important role as the language of political discourse and propaganda during the War of the Spanish Succession in the first three decades of the eighteenth century. An excellent example of a Latin text employed in order to extol the deeds of the Habsburg suitor Archduke Charles of Austria is Johann Werlhof ’s Epithalamium potentissimi Hispaniarum regis Catholici Caroli III et serenissimae principis Brunsuico–Luneburgicae Elisabethae Christinae (1708). Literatura y Música. Ramon Folc de Cardona, Gran Capitán del Renacimiento

This paper proposes new considerations for a revision of the life of the great Catalan Captain Ramon Folc de Cardona (Bellpuig 1467 – Naples 1522), viceroy of King Ferdinand the Catholic in Sicily and Naples. The article provides a new interpretation of contemporary literary sources concerning the viceroy and his court. The survival of the viceroy’s memory is also analysed as a theatrical and musical archetype in Italian Renaissance comedies, particularly in Orazio Vecchi’s madrigal comedy L’Amfiparnasso.El presente trabajo propone nuevas reflexiones para la revisión biográfica del Gran Capitán catalán Ramon Folc de Cardona (Bellpuig 1467 – Nápoles 1522), virrey de Fernando el Católico en Sicilia y Nápoles. El artículo reinterpreta los testimonios literarios coetáneos conservados sobre el personaje y su corte e incorpora novedades al respecto. Así mismo, se analiza la pervivencia de la memoria del virrey como arquetipo teatral y musical en las comedias del Renacimiento italiano y en la comedia madrigal L’Amfiparnasso de Orazio Vecchi
