Współczesne formy akomodacji misyjnej na przykładzie Kuby
The presented article takes up the issue of missionary accommodation on the example of the Church in Cuba. It is shown in both theoretical (theology, conciliar teaching, papal teaching with special reference to Pope Francis) and practical (consultation with missionaries and the author’s own experience) assumptions. The purpose of the article is to reflect pastorally on the involvement of missionaries in pastoral ministry and to identify the essential accommodative ways used by them. The final conclusions point to the need for missionaries to be creative and open-minded in their search for new ways to evangelize, and to overcome obstacles in the way of proclaiming the Good News. The presented article takes up the issue of missionary accommodation on the example of the Church in Cuba. Paradygmat krajowego, instytucjonalnego zaangażowania misyjnego na podstawie działalności Prokury Misyjnej Misjonarzy Oblatów Maryi Niepokalanej (1969-2022)
The Missionary Procuration of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (1969-2022) is a national institution supporting Oblate, but not only, missionary activity ad gentes. Its structure also includes: Public Association of the Faithful “Friends of the Oblate Missions” (since 1969), Association Oblacka Pomoc Misjom “Lumen Caritatis” (since 2009), the Missionary Roads magazine and website (since 2014), and the Mazenodianum Institute Foundation (since 2021). These institutions, apart from the association of “Friends of the Oblate Missions”, previously operated separately. From the very beginning, the Missionary Procuration has been associated with the basic areas of its activity: providing spiritual and material assistance to missionaries and the works they carry out; supporting the awakening of missionary vocations; propagating the missionary idea both among the clergy and lay people, also through: the activities of the Friends of the Mission, the activities of the “Lumen Caritatis” association, the publishing of the “Missionary Roads” magazine, the www.misacyjne.pl website, books and ephemeral publications, presence in other social media, parish animations and mission retreats, conducting social campaigns, other evangelistic, cultural and scientific events related to the promotion of Oblate missions. The conducted research shows, among others, that: this activity in many of its aspects may be paradigmatic for other national mission institutions (eg WYD or the missionary secretariat of the Divine Word Missionaries work in a similar way). The realities of missionary activity and research have also shown that the centralization of missionary activities in one institutional entity within the religious or diocesan jurisdiction is a better solution than their atomization. The purpose of missionary institutions is not only spiritual and material help for the mission, but also a much wider multifaceted activity; in the activities of ecclesial missionary institutions, both proven and modern missionary tools should be used, and in-depth mission formation, as well as the creation of communities, groups of people engaged in mission is a condition of permanent missionary assistance. The Missionary Procuration of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (1969-2022) is a national institution supporting Oblate, but not only, missionary activity ad gentes. Rola inkulturacji w nowej ewangelizacji
The article includes an attempt to describe the relationship between inculturation and the new evangelization, focusing on inculturation as a method of the new evangelization. In the literature of the subject there are many studies on inculturation in indigenous cultures of Africa or Latin America. However, there is little scientific literature on contemporary culture, which is also the subject of missionary activities of the Church. Therefore there is a need to systematize and investigate this topic. As a result of the analysis, the article shows that it is possible to use analogies in the application of inculturation, and it is possible to speak of inculturation in the new evangelization. An outline of the areas of contemporary culture is also presented which particularly require evangelization and inculturation. The article includes an attempt to describe the relationship between inculturation and the new evangelization, focusing on inculturation as a method of the new evangelization. Przekształcanie głosów osób wykluczonych z globalnego świata
The purpose of this article is to highlight the significance of an encounter culture from the standpoint of globalization as a major challenge to modern evangelization. It turns out that the missiological concept of dialogue can act as a catalyst for the transformation and restoration of the dignity of people living on the periphery of modern societies. Dialogue of life and action as one of the tools of evangelization and promotion of good can lead to the formation of structurally stable societies rooted in the Gospel.
The Poznań Foundation of Humanitarian Relief “Redemptoris Missio” originated twenty-five years ago. Its mission is to provide professional medical assistance to missionaries and mission centers. It is the first foundation which involved lay people in the missionary activity of the Catholic Church. It was also founded mostly by lay people and is still managed by them. Many lay volunteers are also engaged in its work. In this study the author describes the genesis of the Foundation and its goals in the context of the pastoral paradigm. The analytical-critical method of its functioning was analyzed, as well as analysis of the source documents of the foundation. On the basis of the foundation's activities an institutional model of secular involvement in the Church’s missionary activity is presented, which can be replicated in other pastoral centers
Fan Shouyi, a bridge between China and the West under the rite controversy
Much has been written about Matteo Ricci and others Western missionaries in China, and less attention has been given to Chinese Catholics. We present here the fascinating story of Fan Shouyi, a Chinese Catholic who came to Europe and decided to become a Jesuit. Returning to China, he played a role in the relations between pope Clement XI and the emperor Kangxi, a role not easy but quite constructive. Działalność misyjna Zgromadzenia Sióstr Służek Najświętszej Maryi Panny Niepokalanej
August 2022 marked 45 years of the missionary work in Africa undertaken by one of the so-called Honorat’s congregations, the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Taking into account the uniqueness of this assembly, the article demonstrates its commitment to the work of the mission ad gentes. The congregation’s founder assigned the sisters to the most needy. Today the sisters recognize their vocation as a mission to the periphery of the world and having understood and read the signs of the times, they courageously go to the periphery of today’s Church, bringing “the joy of the Gospel” to the poorest of the poor. Although Honorat’s congregation of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary was not founded with the intention of doing mission ad gentes, it nevertheless engaged in this form of work one hundred years later. The current teaching of the Church’s Magisterium on the engagement of religious congregations in the work of evangelization includes widening of the perception and implementation of the congregation’s charism. The local vocations of this Congregation as well as the African Sisters taking over missionary offices (mission in Butare), confirm the truth that missions are not merely about giving but also about exchanging gifts.W sierpniu 2022 r. minęło 45 lat od rozpoczęcia przez siostry z jednego z tzw. zgromadzeń honorackich – Sióstr Służek Najświętszej Maryi Panny Niepokalanej – pracy misyjnej w Afryce. Artykuł prezentuje, uwzględniając specyfikę tego zgromadzenia, jego zaangażowanie w dzieło misji ad gentes. Założyciel zgromadzenia posyłał siostry do najbardziej potrzebujących.
In northern Nigeria in the 19th century, the Fulbe cleverly exploited Islam as a motivating and justifying factor in their war against the local Muslim rulers. In this way, they managed to establish a regional power – the caliphate (sultanate) of Sokoto, which for a long period dominated the feudal structures of the Fulani in northern Cameroon. Britain and then Germany aided in the downfall of the power and unity of the Sokoto caliphate. However, neither Germany nor later on France succeeded in eradicating Fulbe dominance over other peoples (Kirdi) in northern Cameroon. This was facilitated by the adoption of an indirect system of government. No change was brought about during Cameroon's years of independence. The Fulbe retained control of the state administration and beyond. Their influence, however, was challenged at the turn of the 20th century by new radical Muslim groups. These new Muslim groups embraced some of the ideas and practices that the Fulbe had previously used as weapons against them.W XIX wieku w północnej Nigerii Fulbe umiejętnie wykorzystywali islam jako siłę motywującą i usprawiedliwiającą walkę z lokalnymi muzułmańskimi władcami.
This article examines the Church’s teaching on the associations of the lay faithful from the perspective of criteria of ecclesiality. First, documents of a universal scope are discussed: Evangelii nuntiandi by Paul VI, Christifideles laici by John Paul II and Iuvenescit Ecclesia, a letter of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Following that is a detailed presentation of a document by the Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith of the Polish Bishops’ Conference developed in 2022, Kryteria eklezjalności wspólnot katolickich (Criteria of ecclesiality of Catholic communities), from which the elements for the local situation can be read, through concrete examples of the practices undertaken.Niniejszy artykuł poświęcony jest nauczaniu Kościoła o stowarzyszeniach wiernych świeckich z perspektywy kryteriów eklezjalności. Wpierw omówiono dokumenty o zasięgu uniwersalnym: adhortacje Evangelii nuntiandi Pawła VI i Christifideles laici Jana Pawła II oraz List Kongregacji Nauki Wiary Iuvenescit Ecclesia, a następnie bliżej dokument Kryteria eklezjalności wspólnot katolickich Komisji Nauki Wiary Konferencji Episkopatu Polski, opracowany w 2022 r., który przybliża dzięki konkretnym przykładom podejmowanych praktyk elementy składające się na lokalną rzeczywistość
Relational Missiology. When Mission Gets In Between
The addressees of the mission of the Church today cannot be defined in terms of territorial. As a result of numerous theological discussions, an interesting expression emerged that reflected the dynamics of the mission – missio inter gentes. The preposition communicating inter indicates a specific relationship between the mission of the Church and its addressees. Missiology, which examines the nature of the mission focuses on its relatedness and hence becomes an advocate a relational theology also relational understanding of faith, religion, ecclesiology and dialogue because God gets in between. The addressees of the mission of the Church today cannot be defined in terms of territorial.
