Att leda skolutveckling för ökad samsyn till tillgänglighet

Artikeln är en del av ett ULF-projekt kring tillgängliga lärmiljöer och synliggör de erfarenheter som kan dras av att som lärare projektleda ett aktionsforskningsprojekt som involverar flera olika arbetslag. Metodologiska lärdomar redovisas som vikten av att rektor ger stöd, tid finns avsatt samt att en tydlig struktur etableras. I artikeln diskuteras också vikten av att skapa en samtalskultur som kännetecknas av flerstämmighet där olika röster kan höras, vilket är en viktig förutsättning för att förändring kan ske. Vidare att lokala skolutvecklingsprojekt kan bidra positivt både till att skapa förändring, i det här fallet ökad tillgänglighet, men också skapa engagemang och samhörighet mellan personal i skola och fritidshem

Barns delaktighet i förskolans dokumentation

I många förskolor brottas man med frågan om hur barnen kan bli eller göras delaktiga i förskolans dokumentation. Pedagogisk dokumentation anses ofta vara ett sätt att göra barn delaktiga. Min studie visar att barn inte nödvändigtvis blir delaktiga bara för att man använder pedagogisk dokumentation, utan att de kan bli mer eller mindre delaktiga oavsett vilken dokumentationsmetod som används

Different rights regarding poor relief – a comparison between the level of reasonable living standards for financial support for the elderly and financial assistance In 2003, financial support for the elderly (ÄFS) was introduced in Sweden, which shifted the responsibility for older people in need of financial support from the municipalities to the state. Prior to the reform, the target group received municipal social assistance (SA), which is a means-tested support for people with little or no income. The article compares ÄFS and SA, focusing on what is considered a “reasonable living standard”, a concept used for both benefits. This is done through a textual analysis of government bills relevant to the implementation of ÄFS. The results show that at the time of implementation, the reasonable standard of living for ÄFS was comparable to SA. Gradually, ÄFS has become more generous compared to SA. The calculation of the reasonable living standards for ÄFS is characterised by administrative simplicity, where the assistance is easily calculated for each application rather than assessed to match the needs of the individual recipients, which can be contrasted to the less standardised administration of SA. However, the level of the ÄFS is below the EU poverty line. Thus, the ÄFS does not have a good capacity to lift recipients out of poverty. The poor relief logic that characterises SA remains in the ÄFS, for instance, through means testing. It is thus possible to see ÄFS as a type of light version of the poor relief logic

Lärarstudenter använder två huvudsakliga strategier för att utveckla sin beredskap att utöva ledarskap i klassrummet. Antingen kan de utveckla en imaginär säkerhet eller en identifierad osäkerhet . Det framkommer av ett aktuellt forskningsprojekt [2] vid Linköpings universitet

Antologin Akilleshälar i välfärd, socialpolitik och socialt arbete under redaktörskap av Hans Swärd, seniorprofessor på Socialhögskolan vid Lunds universitet, och Alexandru Panican, professor på Institutionen för beteende-, social- och rättsvetenskap vid Örebro universitet, tar sin utgångspunkt i de allvarliga problem som den svenska välfärden står inför i en tid då de teoretiska och socialpolitiska grundvalar som välfärden har byggt på är ifrågasatta och har börjat ersättas av en individualiserad syn på sociala problem och av förhållningssätt som betonar krav och kontroll. Swärd och Panican påpekar att även om utvecklingen av välfärden gynnat en majoritet av befolkningen har det alltid funnits svagheter och brister som inneburit att en del grupper har exkluderats från att ta del av den generella välfärden. Syftet med antologin är att åskådliggöra och beskriva utvecklingen av denna typ av brister i den svenska välfärden, vilka Swärd och Panican valt att benämna ”akilleshälar”

Foucault, care of the self and the privileged status of old age

This paper draws attention to Foucault’s  1981/82 lecture series on The Hermeneutics of the Self . These contain perhaps the only direct reference Foucault ever made to the topic of old age.  In them, he observes how, in the first and second centuries of the Common Era, Greco-Roman philosophy shifted its emphasis from ‘knowing thyself’ to ‘becoming one’s self’. While these writers saw the practice of the arts of living as desirable at every stage of life, they considered them most effectively cultivated in later life, when the individual is least constrained by the subjectifications imposed by the world.  Their focus upon the ‘arts of living’ was later replaced by what Foucault considererd a ‘rules of living’ approach,  evident in the early Christian church teachings, and later by the institutions of the state.  Foucault’s endorsement of the art of living in later life can in turn be contrasted with other modern thinkers who have perpetuated such ‘rules of living’ approaches.  Set against Foucault’s support for an aesthetics of lifestyle,   writers working largely within an ageing studies/gerontology framework have advocated what might be called a public health endorsed agenda to age actively or successfully or have prescribed other morally desirable pathways for older people to develop integrity, self-realisation and/or bodily transcendence.  Foucault’s advocacy of an art of living in later life has been neglected by those using his work to emphasise the governance, rather than the freedoms of old age. Drawing attention to these overlooked lectures may help re-balance this view.

Resurspersonal i skolan – vad visar forskningen?

I skolan ökar användningen av resurspersonal för elever i behov av särskilt stöd. ”Resurserna” innefattar främst elevassistenter, lärarassistenter och fritidshemspersonal, men även andra personalkategorier. Det gemensamma för personalgruppen är att den generellt sett har liten eller ingen utbildning för att möta elever i svårigheter. Trots det är det vanligt att resurspersonal, särskilt elevassistenter, anställs för att arbeta med elever i behov av särskilt stöd, men arbetsuppgifterna är sällan tydligt formulerade

The Beau Idéal Has Been Disconnected: : A Technology-Capitalist Realism Perspective on Immediate Modernity’s Anxiety Pandemic

Within immediate modernity, increases in the multitude of psychological, social, emotional and behavioural disruptions affecting human actors, categorised under the (reductive) label of ‘anxiety’ are reaching an apex. This peak can be conceptualised both by frequency of disruptions, which may be defined as ever-present, and by the volume of negative effects over humans’ ability to exist in present reality. Some scholars have argued the permanence of contemporary anxiety represents rebound, a ‘hangover’ from prolonged technological social change and innovation, which alongside positive advances has heralded unintended, unavoidable and unpredictable uncertainties. Others have focussed on impacts arising from impermeable associations between evolving modern life and accelerated capitalist agenda, associated sensemaking, and the intensified embedding of capitalist principles within macro and micro social interactions. Associations occur within and between actors and the technological connective mediums utilised by humans in routine modern life. Despite some existing scholarship in the above domains, few efforts attempt to deconstruct and apply theories holistically as a mechanism of interrogating and contextualising a contemporary anxiety pandemic. To react to a gap in social sensemaking, this transdisciplinary scholarship approaches this task: firstly, by conceptualising contemporary reality using the term immediate modernity, giving language and definition to the unique pro-anxiety social landscape within which human actors are presently situated; secondly, by evaluating and distilling selected theoretical fragments salient for comprehending rapid technological societal advances and their human effects; thirdly, Mark Fisher’s notions of capitalist realism are reconfigured using the synthesised perspectives and applied to interrogate the theme of technological-mediated anxiety in immediate modernity. Drawing theoretical synthesis together, some novel perspectives are presented on immediate modernity’s anxiety pandemic as the beau idéal disconnect theory, describing the hegemonic culture within immediate modernity where anxiety is ever-present and inexorably interlinked with technology-capitalism, yet enduringly and reductively defined as ‘progress’. Applications for theory to further interrogate, visualise and give language to linkages between anxiety and technology-capitalism within contemporary and rapidly accelerating society are put forward

Positiva lärar-elevrelationer predicerar elevers engagemang i sitt skolarbete

I en studie genomförd bland 234 elever i årskurs 4–9 i Linköping undersöktes sambandet mellan lärar-elevrelationer och studieengagemang över tid. Eleverna fick besvara en enkät om sin relation till lärarna och sitt engagemang i skolarbetet vid två tillfällen med ett års mellanrum. Resultaten visade att elever med positiva relationer till sina lärare var mer engagerade i sitt skolarbete både på kort och lång sikt. Vidare visade det sig att kvaliteten på lärar-elevrelationen vid det första mättillfället predicerade elevernas studieengagemang ett år senare, även när hänsyn togs till kön, ålder och tidigare engagemang. Däremot kunde inte elevernas engagemang förutsäga en förbättrad relation till läraren över tid. Slutsatsen är att det är lärarens förmåga att skapa och upprätthålla positiva relationer med eleverna som är avgörande för att främja deras studieengagemang. Resultaten understryker vikten av att skolor och lärare aktivt arbetar med att stärka och utveckla goda relationer till eleverna för att stödja deras engagemang och lärande

Gender inequalities in extended working life: a systematic review of qualitative studies

Extended working life (EWL) in old age is an increasingly prevalent phenomenon in aging populations. Gender inequalities constitute one of the most studied aspects of EWL. However, research on this issue has been predominantly quantitative, resulting in limited understanding of the situated meanings and experiences of work in old age for men and women. This article sheds light on the few studies that have explored gender inequalities in EWL qualitatively, systematically reviewing 47 articles. This study includes a meta-analysis of the papers reviewed, discusses the most frequent topics and content addressed by qualitative studies, and introduces a brief overview of the main findings on gender inequalities in the literature. These findings underscore that the literature has mainly been published in countries of the Global North, with data primarily focused on those nations. Additionally, there is an emphasis on research related to the meanings, decisions, policies, and narratives surrounding retirement, while only a limited number of articles have a defined theo­retical framework. Finally, the limited number of comparisons between countries suggests a need for further research from these perspectives. We conclude this systematic review by discussing the main findings, suggest­ing policy implications of our work and identifying gaps that should be addressed in future research
