management and resource conservation while providing financial and livelihood gains. This study therefore investigated the flow of scrap metals among the actors and the proportion of scrap metals sold to recyclers in Abia State, South Eastern Nigeria, within twelve months. A total of ninety-six scrap yards were selected and sampled using stratified sampling techniques. Site-specific/output approach that involves the vehicle load sampling of scrap metals from the scrap yards to recyclers was employed to determine the volume of scrap metal taken to recyclers monthly. The findings identified the scrap collectors as the value providers and primary stakeholders on which the entire scrap metal recovery chain depends. An average of 1026.49±471.35, 1258.38±577.85, and 4.65±3.31tonnes for ferrous, nonferrous and E-scrap are sold to recyclers reducing the volume sent to landfills. A higher volume of scrap metal was recovered and sold to recyclers during the wet season. Nonferrous scrap metal is the most preferred scrap metals and accounts for 54.9% of scrap metal sold to recyclers. Scrap recycling is a sustainable approach to its management

In general, obesity has been increasing at an alarming rate over the past 50 years. In 2022, obesity and its comorbidities accounted for 14.3 percent of this world health care expenditure [1]. A lot of people are uneasy about having bariatric surgery, and they could worry about what might go wrong before, during, or after the procedure. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that between 266 and 360 million surgeries take place globally year. Studies show that over 75% of individuals have stress [2]. This research to determine the impact of the rehabilitation program on the stress levels of patients following sleeve gastrostomy, to find out the relationship between patient's stress status and demographic characteristics (age, sex, level of education, and marital state). The current study was carried out using a quasi-experimental design, (two groups comparison), the study was conducted in center of hepatopathy and digestive diseases in AL-Hussein Teaching Hospital at AL-Muthanna city in Iraq. Study Sample: A non-probability (purposive) sample was taken from patients who performed gastric sleeve and the sample was (50) patients. Use questionnaire in this study. After the program was implemented, it was discovered that the case group had improved compared to the control group on the post-test. The patient stress after sleeve gastrectomy was high stress. The program which implemented on patients had a benefit feedback on patients

Technology is changing our world. Routine knowledge and skills are being automated, digitized, and outsourced. Universities, governments, and businesses from around the world have worked together to understand the skills that students will need to succeed in the 21st century. Students today have access to so many different technologies and so much information. It’s important to teach them how to make the most of it. Learning how to work effectively and respectfully with other people is an important life skill. Collaborative activities are also excellent for English language learners because they encourage speaking and listening skills

A Study on the Fungus Agaricus bisporus and Observing the Effect of Cultivation Periods and Cultivation Media on the Growth of This Fungus

    Get PDF
The study aimed to know the effect of different culture media and cultivation period on the growth of fungus Agarigus bisporus, and cultivation was done on Petri dishes using different culture media containing nanomaterials (PDA medium (comparative), medium containing wheat bran, medium containing wheat bran nanoparticles, Cultivation medium containing compost extract, culture medium containing nanocompost extract). The results showed an increase in the growth of the fungus Agaricus bisporus during 15 days of the experiment period, and the growth increased due to the superiority of all treatments with significant differences, and the use of these media led to an increase in the productivity of the fungus in all types of culture media used under study. No significant differences appeared between the average cultivation period for the samples under cultivation in the period 5 and 10 days, while they appeared on the 15th day

Enhancing Egg Quality in Molting Hens Through Dietary Manganese Supplementation

    Get PDF
This study explores the application of a fasting program to enhance molting and vitality in Lohman brown hens, with a focus on the impact of dietary manganese on egg quality. Forced molting was induced in 120 hens, divided into five groups (T1, T2, T3, T4, T5), with manganese sulfate added to their feed at concentrations of 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 mg/kg, respectively. The research aimed to determine the optimal manganese level for improving egg quality parameters such as eggshell relative weight, eggshell height, albumin index, yolk index, and the percentage of broken and abnormal eggs. The results showed significant improvements in all measured parameters in the manganese-supplemented groups compared to the control group, highlighting the beneficial effects of manganese on egg quality during the molting process. These findings suggest that incorporating manganese into the diet can effectively enhance egg production quality in molting hens, providing a practical approach for poultry management

Japan Leads in Integrating Foresight into Innovation Policy

    Get PDF
This article examines the evolution of scientific and technological Foresight research over the past decade, particularly in Japan, highlighting its integration into science, technology, and innovation policy formulation. Initially limited to analytical reports, Foresight now includes interdisciplinary and intersectoral approaches, utilizing advanced methods such as weak signals and "jokers" to enhance research robustness. The study addresses the knowledge gap in understanding the impact of these integrated methods on policy development. It aims to analyze Japan's significant financial investments in R&D, predominantly funded by the private sector, and the role of government support through initiatives like those from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). The results show that Japan's approach has maintained its competitive edge in the global market by fostering innovation and aligning national priorities with global trends. The implications suggest that other nations can enhance their technological capabilities by creating integrated and well-supported research environments. Further research should explore the long-term impacts of these foresight practices on innovation ecosystems and the potential of emerging methodologies in shaping future technological landscapes
