This study investigated the behavioural and cognitive predictors of consumer credit usage to develop a behavioural credit risk assessment procedure for a factoring company. Participants completed surveys measuring personality traits, self-esteem, material and monetary values, compulsive and impulsive buying tendencies, self-control, and impulsiveness. Financial surveys also assessed financial literacy and knowledge of financial concepts. The results indicated that extraversion, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and experiential self-control were significant predictors of consumer credit usage. These findings suggest that a finance company can use these personality traits and financial characteristics to develop a more accurate and effective credit risk assessment procedure, such as psychometric tests.Bu çalışma, tüketici kredisi kullanımını etkileyen davranışsal ve bilişsel faktörleri araştıran ilk çalışmalardan biridir. Araştırmanın sonuçları, bir faktöring şirketi için daha doğru ve etkili bir kredi risk değerlendirme prosedürü geliştirmek için kullanılabilecek önemli bilgiler sağlamaktadır. Bu tür bir prosedür, finansal kurumların risklerini azaltmasına ve tüketicilerin finansal refahını artırmasına yardımcı olabilir. Çalışmanın sonuçları ayrıca, tüketici kredisi kullanımını etkileyen faktörler hakkında daha fazla anlayış sağlamaktadır. Investigation procedure for the diagnosis of historical minarets: Inclined minaret of Sivas Ulu Cami (Mosque)

The inclined minaret of Sivas Ulu Cami (Mosque) from the 13th century Danishmend Period is one of the most invaluable architectural heritages in Turkey. The extent of inclination of the minaret towards the North-West direction, the seismicity of the region, and structural damages that occurred in time have emphasized the need for comprehensive structural and geotechnical investigations. Accordingly, a rehabilitation project is currently going on under the coordination of the General Directorate of Foundations of Turkey. Within the scope of the project, first, a series of field surveys have been conducted to obtain the current features of the minaret including the characteristics of the structural system, damages, deviation from the vertical axis, ground conditions and foundation details. In addition to that, a monitoring system including inclinometers, linear potentiometers and accelerometers has been mounted for tracking the evolution of deformations and damages in time under environmental influences and extracting the dynamic properties of the minaret. Findings from the field survey and monitoring system were used for constructing an analytical model of the structural system of the minaret. Then nonlinear time history analyses were conducted under various strong ground motion records to estimate the seismic performance of the minaret when subjected to earthquakes of different characteristics. The results showed that the tensile stresses that occurred due to seismic actions exceeded the tensile strength of the brick masonry at the region of the transition segment and the cylindrical body (top level of the boot).2-s2.0-85184113834Oca

Exploring habits of mind associated with incremental learning theory to explain actions of teachers integrating environmental education

This study was launched after re-analyzing teacher narratives from an earlier study; the narratives were reflections on environmental education practices. The analysis involved using a framework that relates Habits of Mind to educational theories. An unsurprising outcome was finding Habits of Mind associated with mindfulness and constructivism. An unanticipated finding was to learn how incremental learning theory explains why teachers strive to include environmental education in their lessons. Although there has been environmental research related to growth and fixed mindsets, more studies in environmental education are needed to explore how incremental learning theory plays a role in the decisions and actions of exemplary environmental educators. Therefore, to begin this exploration, a new study was conducted using the framework to analyze interviews with ten currently practicing teachers. The findings give insights into the following Habits of Mind associated with incremental beliefs: wonderment and awe, continuous learning, striving for accuracy, risk-taking, and persistence.Şuba
