·äœççµå¶ããŠããŠãæããã«ããŠããã€ããã§ãããIn terms of ideal methods of school management in the future of Japan, the major trend recognizes the necessity of autonomous school management and participatory school management. It has been found that there are discrepancies between the qualities expected for principals under education reforms and those that principals themselves feel they need to acquire. Based on analyses of interviews with private senior high school principals, this study classifies the management styles of the principals into 8 types based on the combination of 4 axes and suggests some possibilities that educational outcomes may be significantly influenced by the type of school management that is selected and implemented. This research note presents an overview of this study, and also aims to clarify directions for future research in this field. The tasks ahead are to narrow down types of the management styles that actually exist in schools out of the 8 ideal types, and to present basic principles and concrete management approaches in order to develop schools with strong management bases.departmental bulletin pape
