The history of physical education provides data from which one may compare not only the methods and results but, also the importance and influence c£ physical education in the past with that of the present. To begin at the beginning of the history of physical education is to examine modern primitive society. Physical perfection is the only feature in primitive life that is comparable or superior to that of civilized man. This perfection among the savages was attained through daily activities, including mild labor, search for food, dancing, and games. The primitive tribes considered dancing a serious activity to evoke goodwill and favors of deities or demons. The leading forms of the primitive dance are the pantomine, the war dance, the initation dance. The steps are usually taken from nature, like the walk or leap of the deer, the swaying of the palms, the writhing of the snake. The instinct and opportunity to play have been more pronounced among primitive people than among those of civilized nations

Interior Point Methods and Kernel Functions of a Linear Programming Problem

In this thesis the Interior -- Point Method (IPM) for Linear Programming problem (LP) that is based on the generic kernel function is considered. The complexity (in terms of iteration bounds) of the algorithm is first analyzed for a class of kernel functions defined by (3-1). This class is fairly general; it includes classical logarithmic kernel function, prototype self-regular kernel function as well as non-self-regular functions, thus it serves as a unifying frame for the analysis of IPM. Historically, most results in the theory of IPM are based on logarithmic kernel functions while other two classes are more recent. They were considered with the intention to improve theoretical and practical performance of IPMs. The complexity results that are obtained match the best known complexity results for these methods. Next, the analysis of the IPM was summarized and performed for three more kernel functions. For two of them we again matched the best known complexity results. The theoretical concepts of IPM were illustrated by basic implementation for the classical logarithmic kernel function and for the parametric kernel function both described in (3-1). Even this basic implementation shows potential for a good performance. Better implementation and more numerical testing would be necessary to draw more definite conclusions. However, that was not the goal of the thesis, the goal was to show that IPM with kernel functions different than classical logarithmic kernel function can have best known theoretical complexity

Interrater Reliability in Toxicity Identification: Limitations of Current Standards.

PurposeThe National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) v5.0 is the standard for oncology toxicity encoding and grading, despite limited validation. We assessed interrater reliability (IRR) in multireviewer toxicity identification.Methods and materialsTwo reviewers independently reviewed 100 randomly selected notes for weekly on-treatment visits during radiation therapy from the electronic health record. Discrepancies were adjudicated by a third reviewer for consensus. Term harmonization was performed to account for overlapping symptoms in CTCAE. IRR was assessed based on unweighted and weighted Cohen's kappa coefficients.ResultsBetween reviewers, the unweighted kappa was 0.68 (95% confidence interval, 0.65-0.71) and the weighted kappa was 0.59 (0.22-1.00). IRR was consistent between symptoms noted as present or absent with a kappa of 0.6 (0.66-0.71) and 0.6 (0.65-0.69), respectively.ConclusionsSignificant discordance suggests toxicity identification, particularly retrospectively, is a complex and error-prone task. Strategies to minimize IRR, including training and simplification of the CTCAE criteria, should be considered in trial design and future terminologies
