PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN BEDAK PADAT TERHADAP JUMLAH LESI AKNE VULGARIS(Penelitian Klinis pada Mahasiswi Penderita Akne Vulgaris yang Diberi Terapi Standar Tretinoin 0,025% + TSF 15)

Abstract

Background: Acne vulgaris ( AV ) is a multifactorial disease affecting the pilosebaceous follicles with characteristic comedones , papules, pustules , nodules , and cysts . This disease affects almost 80 % of teens and young adults . The high incidence of acne vulgaris can’t be separated from cosmetic use in everyday life , especially the compact powder . Sometimes compact powder contain comedogenic ingredients . However this is not in accordance with previous studies that stated the use of powder has no effect on AV . Therefore , it is necessary to do research on the influence of adding the compact powder to the number of Acne vulgaris lesions. Aim: Prove the influence of adding the compact powder to the number of Acne vulgaris lesions Methods: This research is an experimental research which use Randomized Controlled Trial design. There are 40 subjects, divided into two groups: the treatment group and the control group . Each group consisted of 20 female students . The treatment group were given a compact powder and Tretinoin 0.025 % + Sunscreen SPF 15 while the control group were given Tretinoin 0.025 % + Sunscreen SPF 15. The number of AV lesions will be calculated in the beginning of study, then after being treated for 4 weeks in accordance groups , recalculation of AV lesions will be performed. Statistical test using Paired T test and Independent T test . Results: The average age of subjects in the treatment and control groups is 21 years. There is no significant age difference between the treatment group and the control group (P = 0.767). With Independent t test and Mann Whitney test, there is no significant different (P>0,05) of the average of comedones, papules, pustules, and total lesion counts between the treatment and control groups at baseline and end of the study. With paired T test, there is a significant difference in the average of comedones (P = 0.000) and the number of AV lesions (P = 0.001) ,in the form of reduction in lesion, between the beginning and end of the study in the treatment group. Therefore, there is no significant differences in papules (P = 0.975) and pustules (P = 0.233). In the control group, no significant difference of comedones (P = 0.118), papules (P = 0.701), pustules (P = 0.382), and the number of lesions (P = 0.056) between the beginning and end of the study. There is no significant difference of the difference of comedones, papules, pustules, nodules, and the total number of lesions overall between treatment and control groups (P> 0.05). Conclusion: There is influence of the compact powder addition to the number of Acne vulgaris lesions. Key Words Compact powder, Acne vulgaris, A
