This paper investigates the tendency of the modification on the resource quantity per unit in steel bridge construction. In order to evaluate whether Korean criterion on the resource quantity per unit is proper, this research selects sample bridges, applies Korean and Japanese quantity surveying methods to them, and then compare the resource quantities for bridge construction. Korean quantity surveying method is based on types of steel, types of bridge and the weight of the steel. The resource quantity per unit is given as a criterion for each type of steel bridge. As a result, total cost of a bridge is estimated by the total weight of a steel bridge multiplied by its given resource per unit. Japanese quantity surveying method is based on the elements of a bridge. This approach reflects how complex to construct, how to weld the elements, how many elements the bridge has, etc. As a result, even same type of bridges may have different costs. This research founds, so as to reflect the characteristics of a bridge in quantity surveying, the Japanese approach can be an alternative.ABSTRACT โ…

    A container carrying the cargo is imported and used to be transferred to the shipper. And then empty container can be temporarily kept in a storage or can be continuously exported by loading cargoes. Due to the global economic recession and decreased national export, though this container circulation is very typical, most of containers tend to be stored in returned container space not to be re-exported. So this means the problem that container is not properly circulated. Especially in a large-scale demand area like Seoul metropolitan area and Gyeonggi area(in this study, we called this โ€œGyeonginโ€ region), empty container is returned to the Uiwang or Incheon. However, these two empty container storage regions have problems because of their regional characteristics and lots of complex reasons. Specifically there are some problems for returning empty container in Gyeongin Area such asโ€œOperational problem of storageโ€ means the unequal distribution of container from the region tendency by the ebb and flow of the tide, โ€œOvercharge phenomenon of storageโ€ which is occurred by export shortage and unbalanced empty container supply and demand, and โ€œInefficient cost problemโ€which occurs in several places including the shipper. Therefore this study focused on the problem of empty container return process in Uiwang and Incheon, and proposed solutions reflecting the actual container transportation environments for empty container return process. To identify the reasons of container transport related partiesโ€™ preference and choice between Uiwang and Incheon as the return empty container place, a survey was conducted. In addition, to analyze the utility and cost between Uiwang and Incheon, this study used a number of container transport case(data) to Uiwang or Incheon of anonymous logistics company. Consequently it was possible to understand fundamental cause of empty container return process in Gyeongin region and, on the basis of this, to present solutions.List of Tables โ…ฒ List of Figures โ…

Based on its function and role, I tried to find out the milestone to further a step. The subject to be analyzed is a Gwangju grand housing complex construction. Gwangju grand housing complex incident was a fight for lives of urban poor who were migrated by truck on 10th of August, 1971, followed by government policy. Although it was the urban poor protest to the government to provide residents self-support measure, the government and the press ignored the residents voices and labeled the protest as a "riot" or "disturbance", offended the initial Seongnam migrants mind. Regaining the reputation about conflict in urban space is the first assignment for Seongnam to leap. While previous researches on the 8.10 incident focused on political rebellion and uprising, this research focuses on the experiences and the voices of the residents who pioneered the barren environment and found out their way to live and the public officials who carried out the projects to solve the problems for 40 years. For Seongnam citizens, Gwangju grand housing complex incident is not a past, but a present progressive problem. For this reason, this study focuses on the structural process and the conflict composion among classify subjects relations in urban space surrounding the development of Gwangju grand housing complex, which was a Seongnam naissance. This study defines the value and the significance of the Gwangju grand housing complex project in modernization history, and considers the changes and possibilities brought in urban policies by examine conflict composion among classify subjects First, what is modernization and where the Gwangju grand housing complex project is in process of modernization? The formation of urban poor layer by peasants migration to urban area can be seen as a growing pain of transition period in the process of a nations modernization. With rapid growth of national economy, government focused on the demonstration effect and regaining confidence, perceived urban poor, which occurred as a necessary evil, as objects to be concealed. Gwangju grand housing complex construction was a representative case in the process of modernization, and it can constrictively be seen in the reproduction process of urban slum and unauthorized buildings. Gwangju grand housing complex project was a project to solve unauthorized buildings and urban slum residents problems on the surface, but in real it was a government-leading large scale construction project. Second, what was the background and the content of the Gwangju grand housing complex project and what was its impact on urban development project? Massive reproduction of unauthorized buildings and increasing number of urban slum residents were threats to the Korean government system in the time of confrontation between South and North Korea and national security was number one government policy in South Korea. For the government, Gwangju grand housing complex project must be successful even with some sacrifice. Because of financial difficulty, the Seoul municipal government made a profit making structure by so-called "business administration": as soon as the development started, the government clawed land price back, and put that money back into the project. The Seoul municipal government created profitable situation by buying Gwangju grand housing complex land in cheap price, because the land was originally owned by government, and selling it for higher rate to the migrants. Thus the project got a positive drive force. However, this land administration did not reflect the reality of the residents. This led residents to have grievance toward the government which caused 8.10 incident. Third, what was the conflict composion among classify subjects surrounding Gwangju grand housing complex project problem? The goal of this project was to migrate Seoul-area urban poor, but abundant amount of new general tenants from other than slum area beyond development capacity. After the massive speculative real estate investment, Seoul municipal government put monopoly restriction policy and Gyeonggi municipal government imposed acquisition tax. These policies were the direct conflict components on the 8.10 incident. Conflicts between government branches due to Gyeongi municipal government deals with civil complaints while Seoul municipal government takes development profit, between residents and job-producing project staff, between representative of migrants and Seoul grand housing complex ministry are reviewed to look over the process of the project. Civil complaints were mostly accepted because residents requests were minimum self-support measure. Fourth, what were the governmental countermeasures on Gwangju grand housing complex project after the 8.10 incident? After the 8.10 incident, the government came up with the way to combine administration and development which originally was separated to Seoul and Gyeonggi municipal government. As a result, Gyeonggi municipal government took over administration and development role, such as buying land, urban development, job-producing projects, thus was able to raise the driving force and the efficiency in whole project. Gwangju grand housing complex project drew interest to the people countrywidetherefore the project became a project for the central government, which set the base work to become a satellite town. After the project was passed to the Gyeonggi municipal government, the government was able to make a comprehensive plan to become an independent city, not just "housing construction project"as before, and to prevent urban sprawl. Fifth, while looking at the Gwangju grand housing complex development projects problems and countermeasures, what are the effects of the Gwangju grand housing complex development project? After the 8.10 incidents of migrants, countrywide attention and governmental intervene were drawn to the Gwangju grand housing complex project and the central government policies were able to accomplish the migrants residence stabilization. As a result, urban development project was able to get close collaboration with urban construction and strong propellant effect by unifying development and administration, and provided minimum groundwork for urban slum residents to settle their lives. Residence stabilization for urban slum residents solved internal instability factors of our society and helped improving national image by removing unauthorized buildings. After the initial conflicts and disorders are solved, massive mid-income people migrants to the area led to the development aside boulevard and to the improvement to the city. In this study, the object of accommodating massive migrants in a short time period like Gwangju grand housing complex project, and conflicts and experiences administrative, developing project, migrants underwent in urban development are organized. This study concludes with policy implications for the governments to set the priority of national finance input, and to handle conflicts or problems in refugee camp or temporary accommodations in case of South and North Korea are unified and North Korean paupers migrate to South Korea, based on this study. Korean modernization was based on urban poor labor force. Rice Agricultural Intensification and Sociopolitical Development in the Bronze Age, Central Western Korean Peninsula

This research understands the characteristics of the regional and local political economy utilizing an intensive form of rice agricultural technology during the Middle Bronze Age (800-400 BCE), in the central western Korean Peninsula, focusing on how social components (e.g. regional polities, local communities, and individual households), in the context of emergent complexity, were related to each other in shaping a specific sociopolitical organization that utilized improved technology for primary agricultural production.Relevant information has been generated by reconstructing MBA regional settlement patterns through the use of surface survey and excavation data, analyzing the spatial correlation between regional settlement hierarchy and differences in abundance of rice soils, the necessity of cooperative water management, easy accessibility to important junctions of ancient transportation routes, and investigating household wealth/status variability. All of this information is used to place MBA society somewhere in the sociopolitical continuum, two ends of which correspond to the extreme top-down and bottom up systems, respectably. The top-down models assume that suprahousehold-level organization and management of labor-pooling necessary to utilize intensive agricultural technology, while bottom-up ones emphasize the individual householdsยกยฏ and/or small kin-based groupsยกยฏ role in initiation and maintenance of the system.I conclude that there was a mixture of the two strategies mentioned above, in MBA rice-agricultural intensification, rather than the consistent compatibility to either strategy. Communities within individual polities were organized differently indicating compatibility with either system, sometimes in substantially different manners. Even when comparing polities located in quite similar environmental settings, there were quite noticeable differences in production and distribution of wet rice.In this light, beyond simple positioning in the continuum on the basis of reconstructing the differing levels of social organization, this study attempts to make such a reconstruction more dynamic by emphasizing the possible strategies pursued by different social actors, especially elites who are likely to get more benefits from the intensive agricultural systems. A possible strategic activity subjected by elites is feasting. The rigorous participation of commoner households in the intensive production of wet rice is observed at certain center and it may have been encouraged and compensated by feasting activities
