Backbending phenomena in light nuclei at A~60 mass region
Recent studies of the backbending phenomenon in medium light weight nuclei
near A~60 expanded greatly our interest about how the single particle orbits
are nonlinearly affected by the collective motion. As a consequence we have
applied a modi…ed version of the exponential model with the inclusion of
paring correlation to describe the energy spectra of the ground state bands
and/or the backbending phenomenon in mass region at A~60. A firm conclusion is
obtained concerning the successful validity of the proposed modified model in
describing the backbending phenomenon in this region. Comparison with different
theoretical descriptions is discussed.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure
Quantized Berry Phases for a Local Characterization of Spin Liquids in Frustrated Spin Systems
Recently by using quantized Berry phases, a prescription for a local
characterization of gapped topological insulators is given. One requires the
ground state is gapped and is invariant under some anti-unitary operation. A
spin liquid which is realized as a unique ground state of the Heisenberg spin
system with frustrations is a typical target system, since pairwise exchange
couplings are always time-reversal invariants even with frustrations.
As for a generic Heisenberg model with a finite excitation gap, we locally
modify the Hamiltonian by a continuous SU(2) twist only at a specific link and
define the Berry connection by the derivative. Then the Berry phase evaluated
by the entire many-spin wavefunction is used to define the local topological
order parameter at the link. We numerically apply this scheme for several spin
liquids and show its physical validity.Comment: 6 pages. submitted for a proceeding of the conference (HFM2006) as an

Specific heat study of spin-structural change in pyrochlore NdMoO
By measurements of specific heat, we have investigated the magnetic field
() induced spin-structural change in NdMoO that shows
spin-chirality-related magneto-transport phenomena. A broad peak around 2 K
caused by the ordering of 2-in 2-out structure of the Nd moments at zero
shifts to the lower temperature () up to around 3 T and then to the higher
above around 3 T with increasing for all the direction of . This is
due to the crossover from antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic arrangement
between the Nd and Mo moments. While the peak increases monotonically above
3 T for //[100], another peak emerges around 0.9 K at 12 T for //[111],
which is ascribed to the ordering of 3-in 1-out structure. For //[110], a
spike like peak is observed at around 3 T, which is caused perhaps by some spin
flip transition.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Experience on the use of MOSTAB-HFW computer code for horizontal-axis wind turbines
Three topics are covered dealing with the frequencies of a rotating beam, the use of the fundamental mode of a uniform cantilever beam, and the analysis of resonance dwell. Immensely high peak loads were generated by the code for resonance dwell indicating further need for including structural damping and for transient analysis capability. The effect of structural damping, newly incorporated in the code, is described
