    TempoCave: Visualizing Dynamic Connectome Datasets to Support Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

    We introduce TempoCave, a novel visualization application for analyzing dynamic brain networks, or connectomes. TempoCave provides a range of functionality to explore metrics related to the activity patterns and modular affiliations of different regions in the brain. These patterns are calculated by processing raw data retrieved functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans, which creates a network of weighted edges between each brain region, where the weight indicates how likely these regions are to activate synchronously. In particular, we support the analysis needs of clinical psychologists, who examine these modular affiliations and weighted edges and their temporal dynamics, utilizing them to understand relationships between neurological disorders and brain activity, which could have a significant impact on the way in which patients are diagnosed and treated. We summarize the core functionality of TempoCave, which supports a range of comparative tasks, and runs both in a desktop mode and in an immersive mode. Furthermore, we present a real-world use case that analyzes pre- and post-treatment connectome datasets from 27 subjects in a clinical study investigating the use of cognitive behavior therapy to treat major depression disorder, indicating that TempoCave can provide new insight into the dynamic behavior of the human brain

    Spot the Difference! Visual plagiarism in the visual arts.

    Over recent years there has been considerable investment in the use of technology to identify sources of text-based plagiarism in universities. However, students of the visual arts are also required to complete numerous pieces of visual submissions for assessment, and yet very little similar work has been undertaken in the area of non-text based plagiarism detection. The Spot the Difference! project (2011-2012), funded by JISC and led by the University for the Creative Arts, seeks to address this gap by piloting the use of visual search tools developed by the University of Surrey and testing their application to support learning and teaching in the arts and specifically to the identification of visual plagiarism. Given that most commonly used search technologies rely on text, the identification and evidencing of visual plagiarism is often left to the knowledge and experience of academic staff, which can potentially result in inconsistency of detection, approach, policies and practices. This paper outlines the work of the project team, who sought to investigate the nature, scope and extent of visual plagiarism in the arts education sector

    The Visual Secret Sharing Scheme Based on the Rgb Color System

    The visual secret sharing (VSS) scheme is a method to maintain the confidentiality of a se-cret image by sharing it to some number participants. A (k, n) VSS divides the secret images into n parts, that are called shadows ; to recover the secret back, k shadows should be stacked. Some methods have been developed to implement VSS for color images. However, the methods are only suitable for images with limited number of colors. When more colors are used, the resulted stacked shadow image becomes unclear. Besides that, the size of the shadows becomes bigger as more colors are used. We develop a new method implementing the VSS using the RGB color system. Using our method, the problem related to the unclear stacked shadow image can be overcome

    Analysis of Visual Communication of Telkom University Endowment and Alumni Directorate Based on User Satisfaction Level using The User Satisfaction Index Method

    Most of the universities in Indonesia, especially private universities rely on tuition fees as the main income for their operational cost., one of the solutions is the Endowment Fund, Telkom university has it, namely Endowment and Alumni Directorate (EAD) of Telkom University. Telkom University has managed the Endowment Fund program, but until now it has not been very successful, because the achievement of the target funds collected is far under target. The results of the initial identification show that one of the main media for promotion is the website of the Telkom University Endowment and Alumni Directorate. In this study, prospective donors were assessed on the appearance, content, and message delivered on the website of Telkom University Endowment and Alumni Directorate using the user satisfaction index method. The result of the USI index is 43.64% of overall user assessment of the website, which indicates that the website is still low. Keywords- Endowment Fund, User Satisfaction Index, WebQual 4.
