The need for greater storage capacity is the cause of the emergence of various compression techniques.By compressing, large data will be reduced in size so as to save storage capacity. In this research, usingthe Elias Omega Code and Fibonacci Code algorithms, the performance will be measured with the ratioof compression, compression ratio and space saving in digital text files. Compression is done by readingthe string in a digital text file, then the Elias Omega Code algorithm and the Fibonacci Code algorithmcreate a string code and perform the compression process. From the final result of the compression, files with extension * .EB and * .FB contain character information and Bit String from the compressionresult that can be decompressed. From the output of the decompression is the original digital text filethat is saved with the file extension * .txt. In testing this system, a sample is used, namely a stringconsisting of one type of character stored in a digital text file with the extension * .txt. From thecompression process on digital file character strings, the Fibonacci Code algorithm is superior in termsof compression ratio of compression with an average of 1.72, compression ratio with an average of 57%and space saving of an average of 42%.Keywords: analysis, compression, text, Elias Omega Code, Fibonacci Cod

Gathering the Excluded Voice: The TXT Inside/TXT Outside Project

The TXT Inside/TXT Outside Project was an interdisciplinary community legal education project. It was a collaboration between a legal academic, computing and social scientists, and a conceptual artist. The project involved young offenders held under secure conditions in a Young Offender Institution using text art to reflect on their experiences of law, life and the legal system. The aim of the project was to engage the young offenders and the general public in a discussion about the treatment of young offenders using narrative techniques. The voices of young people held in custody (Inside) were ?gathered? and ?released?, to be seen, heard and responded to by the public at large (Outside). The focal point of the action was a ?stage event? in the centre of Cardiff, where the text messages of a small group of young people in custody were displayed on a large screen, with the public being invited to respond by texting their own messages. A documentary film from the event, which included the projections and interviews with the public, was subsequently shown to and discussed with participating young people in custody

Dublin City University at CLEF 2006: Experiments for the ImageCLEF Photo Collection Standard Ad Hoc Task

We provide a technical description of our submission to the CLEF 2006 Cross Language Image Retrieval(ImageCLEF) Photo Collection Standard Ad Hoc task. We performed monolingual and cross language retrieval of photo images using photo annotations with and without feedback, and also a combined visual and text retrieval approach. Topics are translated into English using the Babelfish online machine translation system. Our text runs used the BM25 algorithm, while our visual approach used simple low-level features with matching based on the Jeffrey Divergence measure. Our results consistently indicate that the fusion of text and visual features is best for this task, and that performing feedback for text consistently improves on the baseline non-feedback BM25 text runs for all language pairs
