Flight support system mechanisms
The Flight Support System (FSS) which contains twelve mechanisms (six different types) which are used for retention and positioning of a Multimission Modular Spacecraft (MMS) within the Space Shuttle's cargo bay during launch, retrieval, and servicing missions is described. Retention latches were designed to provide the capability for structural support of the MMS during launch and retrieval, and during servicing operations the mechanisms on the Positioning Platform provide the capability for positioning the MMS in virtually any orientation necessary for the work to be performed. In addition, there are mechanisms for matching and demating umbilical connectors and a mechanism for locking the Positioning Platform during maneuvers. Each Mechanism is driven by a Common Drive Unit. Manual overrides were provided for those mechanisms that would present a safety hazard for the crew, if they should fail

DSS (Decision Support System) / Sistem Pendukung Keputusan adalah sistem informasi berbasis komputer yang tujuan utamanya adalah menyediakan informasi yang bisa menjadi dasar untuk pengambilan keputusan. Seperti sebuah perangkat lunak komputer berada dalam suatu lingkungan terintegrasi antara perangkat keras dengan sistem operasinya. Begitu pula dalam perencanaan DSS, bagaimana membangun DSS yang dapat membantu pengambilan keputusan. Selain itu DSS memerlukan arsitektur komputer yang tepat dalam pengaplikasiannya, meliputi perangkat keras dengan sistem operasi yang mendukung, memilih kombinasi yang tepat dan, atau dengan kata lain, arsitektur komputer yang tepat dapat membuat DSS berjalan dengan efektif dan efisien dan demikian pula sebaliknya.

Lunar lander ground support system
This year's project, like the previous Aerospace Group's project, involves a lunar transportation system. The basic time line will be the years 2010-2030 and will be referred to as a second generation system, as lunar bases would be present. The project design completed this year is referred to as the Lunar Lander Ground Support System (LLGSS). The area chosen for analysis encompasses a great number of vehicles and personnel. The design of certain elements of the overall lunar mission are complete projects in themselves. For this reason the project chosen for the Senior Aerospace Design is the design of specific servicing vehicles and additions or modifications to existing vehicles for the area of concern involving servicing and maintenance of the lunar lander while on the surface
Repulsive force support system feasibility study
A new concept in magnetic levitation and control is introduced for levitation above a plane. A set of five vertical solenoid magnets mounted flush below the plane supports and controls the model in five degrees of freedom. The compact system of levitation coils is contained in a space 2.4 m (96 in) diameter by 1 m (40 in) deep with the top of the levitation system 0.9 m (36 in) below the center line of the suspended model. The levitated model has a permanent magnet core held in position by the five parallel superconductive solenoids symmetrically located in a circle. The control and positioning system continuously corrects for model position in five dimensions using computer current pulses superimposed on the levitation coil base currents. The conceptual designs include: superconductive and Nd-Fe-B permanent magnet model cores and levitation solenoids of either superconductive, cryoresistive, or room temperature windings
