Long-term consumption or overdose of paracetamol can induce liver damage characterized by increased measure of liver malondialdehyde (MDA). The methanol extract of laban tree bark (Vitex pubescens Vahl) contains antioxidant compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, and saponins that have potential as hepatoprotectors. This study aims to determine the optimal dose of methanol extract of V. pubescens tree bark to reduce liver MDA levels of mice after being induced by toxic dose of paracetamol (TDP). This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) and 35 male Swiss strain mice aged 2,5-3 months. The treatments given consisted of normal control (aquades); negative control (TDP 105 mg/kg weight); positive control (vitamin E 48.6 mg/kg weight) and methanol extract of V. pubescens tree bark (75 mg/kg weight; 150 mg/Kg weight; 300 mg/kg weight and 600 mg/kg weight). Based on the research results, mice that were given an extract dose of 600 mg/kg weight showed a liver MDA levels of 0.68±0.24 nmol/mL which was close to the liver MDA levels of positive control mice, which was 0.62±0.12 nmol/mL

Mudskipper is a fish that able to adapt in mangrove ecosystem. One of the locations of many mudskipper can be found is at Mempawah Mangrove Park, one of ecotourism location in West Kalimantan. This research aims to  determine  density  and  growth  pattern  of  mudskipper  (Periophthalmus  chrysospilos)  in  Mempawah Mangrove Park. The studies was carried out in April to May 2019. Sampling area was carried out in three station, each station consist of  4 plot size sampling 10 x 10 m. The technique of the studies is purposive random sampling by using nets at high tide and at low tide using fishing tools with hand collecting. The result of total fish density in Mempawah Mangrove Park is 0.4075 individual/m2 with total number of mudskipper is 163 individuals. The growth pattern of the fishes is around 0.4826 so the growth of the fishes' length is more dominant than its weight (b <3) which show a negative allometric growth pattern. Environmental factors that can support the mudskipper are water temperature, DO, CO2, water pH, soil pH and salinity

Estuaries are waters that are dominated by mangroves and are influenced by fluctuations in salinity. One of the organisms that live in these waters is the nipah worm (Namalycastis rhodochorde). Fluctuations in salinity affect the growth of bacteria associated in the intestines of nipah worms (N. rhodochorde). The purpose of this study was to determine the character of Bacillus bacteria that live in the intestines of nipah worms (N. rhodochorde). To identify NrLtF5 isolate bacteria, follow Bergey's manual determinative of bacteriology which includes gram staining, catalase production activity test, sporulation test, gelatinase test, methyl red test, cytochrome oxidase test, oxidative fermentative assay, motility activity test, ornithine activity, decarboxylase and indole production, acid and gas formation test, citrate test, urease test, and determination of the optimum temperature for bacterial growth. The results confirmed that the bacteria with the isolate code NrLtF5 had similar characters with the genus Bacillus with gram-positive staining, bacilli-shaped, endospore, and produced the enzyme catalase

Pea plant (Pisum sativum L.) is a plant that grows in highland areas and cold temperatures. Lack of water availability affects the growth of pea plants to experience water stress. The aim of this study to determine the effect of water stress on pea plants. Study had been done from February to March 2021. The research design used a completely randomized design consisting of five treatments, namely the provision of water from the field capacity of 29 mL (P1), 143 mL (P2), 370 mL (P3), 616 mL (P4), 771 mL (P5). The application of water stress on pea plants had a significant effect on the parameters of plant height, wet weight and dry weight of plants, radix shoot ratio. Root nodules did not form on plant root nodules. The application of water stress on pea plants did not significantly affect the chlorophyll content parameter

Liberibacter bacteria are one of the pathogenic bacteria in citrus plants. Siam Citrus Plant in Setapok Village, Singkawang City, suspected to be infected with Liberibacter spp. bacteria by showing patterns of symptoms of chlorosis accompanied by patches. This study aims to detect Liberibacter spp. on Siam Citrus leaves with symptomatic chlorosis with patches. Leaf sampling uses the roaming method in one of the citrus plantations in Setapok Village, Singkawang City. Detection of Liberibacter spp. done by PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) technique. Detection of bacterial DNA through several stages namely, isolation of bacterial plasmid DNA, 16S rDNA gene amplification with a thermocycler machine, and visualization using a set of electrophoresis devices. Electrophoresis results show the presence of DNA band lines, with a size of around 1100 bp for OI1 and OI2c primers, and DNA bands of 703 bp for A2 and J5 specifics. The results showed that there were Liberibacter spp. in the symptomatic chlorosis of Siam Citrus leaves accompanied by patches

Ants as insects occupy various habitats and ecological niches. Universitas Tanjungpura is an area with variable vegetation physiognomies that has the potential to have a lot of ant microhabitat. This study aims to determine the most effective method for collecting arboreal ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) found in the campus area of Universitas Tanjungpura. The study was conducted from August 2018 to February 2019 at ten locations  based on their environmental condition. Ants were collected in three different methods: hand collecting, bait traps, and yellow pan traps. There were 39 species of Formicidae collectedfromall locations. These results were obtained by hand collecting (32 species), bait traps (32 species), and yellow pan traps (4 species). Hand collecting and bait traps are the most effective method for collecting arboreal ants in Universitas Tanjungpura

Coffee pod rot disease (Coffea sp.) is one of the diseases that can reduce fruit quality. This coffee fruit rot disease is attacked by a fungus (Fusarium sp.). Control of coffee berry rot disease can be done by using biological agents in the form of rhizosphere fungi which have antagonistic properties against pathogenic fungi. This study aims to determine the types of fungi, macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of fungi isolated from coffee cherries with symptoms of fruit rot and rhizosphere fungi of coffee plants. Isolation of pathogenic fungi and rhizosphere was carried out by the dilution method. The pathogenic fungi that were isolated from the coffee fruit with rotten symptoms were Fusarium sp. JPTK1 and Fusarium sp. JPTK2. Fusarium sp. JPTK1 has a round shape and a cotton-like texture, while the fungus Fusarium sp. JPTK2 is round in shape with a cotton-like and wavy texture. The rhizosphere fungi that were isolated from the roots of healthy coffee plants, namely Aspergillus sp. JRTK1, Penicillium sp. JRTK2, and Trichoderma sp. JRTK3. Aspergillus sp. JRTK1 has black colonies on the lower surface and white on the lower surface. The fungus Penicillium sp. JRTK2 has a green top surface with white edges and a pink bottom surface with yellow edges. Trichoderma sp. JRTK3 has a dark green color on the top surface and white on the bottom surface

Ansonia spinulifer is one species of amphibian from the family Bufonidae, which has a relatively small body size. A. spinulifer belongs to the endemic species of the Borneo. This study aims to determine the morphometric characteristics of male and female A. spinulifer in Bukit Wangkang, Kubu District, Kubu Raya Regency. Morphometric characters of A. spinulifer obtained different between males and females is snout vent length (body length), snout length, hind leg length, and tarsus length - toes of four back feet. This character is used as a dimorphism character between male and female
