Optimal Distributed Feedback Voltage Control under Limited Reactive Power

In this paper, we propose a distributed voltage control in power distribution networks through reactive power compensation. The proposed control can (i) operate in a distributed fashion where each bus makes its decision based on local voltage measurements and communication with neighboring buses, (ii) always satisfy the reactive power capacity constraint, (iii) drive the voltage magnitude into an acceptable range, and (iv) minimize an operational cost. We also perform various numerical case studies to demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the controller using the nonlinear power flow model.Comment: 32 pages, 10 figures; submitted to TP

    Photovoltaic reactive power limits

Today, Photovoltaic (PV) inverters are working with very small values of reactive power. Then, the Power Factor (PF) is very close to the unit. So, the PV installations only inject active power into the grid. This paper aims to investigate the limits of reactive power capacity in PV generators. In this way, PV generators could be used as a controlled reactive power sources. In this paper, an introduction to the voltage control in photovoltaic generators is described and implemented in Simulink/Matlab and PSS/E.The Spanish Ministry of Education and Science has supported this research under contract ENE2009-13883-C02-C1.Publicad

This studi involve decresing method of harmonic current content in a radial distribution systems used single tuned passive filter. The distribution systems model consist of transformer 20/0,4 kV supplying groups of non linier loads that is represented by personal computer (PC) and fluorescent lamp 2x40 W as load harmonic current source. Passive filter was installed in PCC bus (0,4 kV) and analysis to be conducted according to IEEE std.1531-2003 and IEEE std. 519-1992. The reesult showed that insalation passive filter in PCC bus will decrease magnitut load harmonic current significantly. The decreasing determined by reactive power capacity and frequency tunning of passive filter
