    A Generalized Knowledge Production Function

    Get PDF
This paper presents a generalized production model based on the knowledge production function. The model allows the relationships between corporate competitiveness strategy, innovation, efficiency, productivity growth and outsourcing to be investigated at the firm level in a number of steps. First, in reviewing recent developments of researches on the above relationships, provide discussion on data and the methods of measuring these variables. Second, depending on availability of information, different measures are transferred into single multidimensional index of corporate strategy using principal component analysis. Third, stochastic frontier production function and factor productivity analysis are used to estimate the efficiency and factor productivity growth at the firm level. Fourth, the causal relationships between the five variables of interest are established and modelled. Finally, given the direction of causality, the implications of the findings for estimation of the relationship are discussed. For the empirical analysis we use Swedish firm-level innovation survey data covering both manufacturing and service sectors.Competition; innovation; outsourcing; productivity; efficiency; causality; firm

Hadronic Spectral Function and Charm Meson Production

At the chiral restoration/deconfinement transition, most hadrons undergo a Mott transition from being bound states in the confined phase to resonances in the deconfined phase. We investigate the consequences of this qualitative change in the hadron spectrum on final state interactions of charmonium in hot and dense matter, and show that the Mott effect for D-mesons leads to a critical enhancement of the J/Psi dissociation rate. Anomalous J/Psi suppression in the NA50 experiment is discussed as well as the role of the Mott effect for the heavy flavor kinetics in future experiments at the LHC. The status of our calculations of hadron-hadron cross sections using the quark interchange and chiral Lagrangian approaches is reviewed, and an Ansatz for a unification of these schemes is given.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures, Proceedings of the Budapest'02 Workshop on Quark & Hadron Dynamics, Budapest, Hungary, March 3-7, 200

    The Production Function for Votes

    Get PDF
The Vote Production Function (VPF) has a party's vote depending on (a) its potential vote and (b) the party organization which actualizes it - 'political capital'. Empirical work suggests that moving to the centre would increase your vote if only you could hold political capital constant. The relative weights of the factors in the VPF will determine whether parties converge or polarize ideologically and politicians' rent-seeking behaviour. In most cases, the more important political capital is, the greater the extent of rent seeking. There is thus a welfare case for sidelining party organizations. Compulsory voting might help.voting, ideological equilibria, rent-seeking

Polarized Gluon Distribution Function from η\eta' Production

Using the recently proposed ggηgg\eta' effective vertex, we investigate the production of η\eta' from gluon fusion in polarized pp collisions. We show that by measuring ALLA_{LL} in η\eta' production, one can extract the polarized gluon distribution ΔG(x,Q2)\Delta G(x,Q^2) at Q^2 \sim 1 \GeV^2 and in a wide range of x.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figure

Production Function Analysis of non-member of Dairy Cooperative Society for Milch cow in district Etawah of U.P.

This study covered Cobb douglas production function, Tukey and Kramer analysis on Non members dairy cooperative society for milch cow in district Etawah of U.P. In study researchers have taken post- stratified into Landless, Marginal, small, medium and large herd size categories. The study effect of various factors of production in (Rs.) like Feeding cost included (dry fodder + green fodder), expenditure of concentrate included (grain + khali + mineral material and chunni / choker) and miscellaneous expenses included (labor charge and fixed cost) on milk produced by the cow of dairy cooperative society non members in annual in different categories of farmers. Further, the researchers have found out the comparative analysis of all the categories of dairy cooperative society non members. At last Tukey and Kramer test was applied on all the category of dairy cooperatives society members in milch cow to get into the depth of the problem under investigation. This study is helpful to find out the elasticity of different factors of milk production and comparative analysis in all categories of members dairy cooperative society in milch Cow by Cob douglas production function analysis

Anatomy of production functions: a technological menu and a choice of the best technology

    Get PDF
Jones (2005) proposed microfoundations for the Cobb-Douglas production function. We show that Jones' technological menu is a special case of a concept of support set discussed by Matveenko (1997) and Rubinov, Glover (1998) by use of a duality approach. We use this approach to clarify the relation between different production functions and technological menus. Also we construct an "ideas model" generating CES production function.Production function, technological menu, Leontief function, Cobb-Douglas function, CES function, duality, support set

SELECTING FUNCTIONAL FORM IN PRODUCTION FUNCTION ANALYSIS

    Get PDF
Functional form selection is a sometimes neglected aspect of applied research in production analysis. To provide an improved and uniform basis for form selection, a number of traditional and popular functional forms are catalogued with respect to intrinsic properties. Guidelines for the conduct of form selection are also discussed.Production Economics, Research Methods/ Statistical Methods,
