This study is aimed to examine the quality of quantum learning imfluence toward the enhancement of mathematical problem solving ability of Senior High School students, both viewed entirely and based on mathematical initial ability (MIA) category. In particular, this study is aimed to examine enhancement difference of students' mathematical problem solving ability in a whole and in each level of mathematical initial ability (high, medium and low) between students who receive quantum learning and students who receive conventional learning. This study use experimental quasi with pretests-posttest control group design. Population of this study are Senior High School students in Bogor City. Data is obtained through problem solving ability test and mathematical initial ability data. The result of study showed that students who receive quantum learning have enhancement of mathematical problem solving ability which is higher than students who receive conventional learning. There is no difference enhancement of mathematical problem solving ability both entirely and in each level of mathematical initial ability, except for students with high level of initial mathematical abilit

This research have a purpose to know is there an influence of problem solving abilty to students mathematical thinking, and to know how strong problem solving ability affect students mathematical thinking. This research used descriptive quantitative method, which a population is all of students that taking discrete mathematics courses both in department of Information Systems and department of mathematics education. Based on the results of data analysis showed that there are an influence of problem solving ability to students mathematical thinking either at department of mathematics education or at department of information systems. In this study, it was found that the influence of problem solving ability to students mathematical thinking which take place at mathematics education department is stonger than at information system department. This is because, at mathematics education department, problem-solving activities more often performed in courses than at department of information system. Almost 75% of existing courses in department of mathematics education involve problem solving to the objective of courses, meanwhile, in the department of information systems, there are only 10% of these courses. As a result, mathematics education department student's are better trained in problem solving than information system department students. So, to improve students' mathematical thinking, its would be better, at fisrtly enhance the problem solving ability

Swarm robot social potential fields with internal agent dynamics

Swarm robotics is a new and promising approach to the design and control of multiagent robotic systems. In this paper we use a model for a second order non-linear system of self-propelled agents interacting via pair-wise attractive and repulsive potentials. We propose a new potential field method using dynamic agent internal states to successfully solve a reactive path-planning problem. The path planning problem cannot be solved using static potential fields due to local minima formation, but can be solved by allowing the agent internal states to manipulate the potential field. Simulation results demonstrate the ability of a single agent to perform reactive problem solving effectively, as well as the ability of a swarm of agents to perform problem solving using the collective behaviour of the entire swarm

    Advances towards a General-Purpose Societal-Scale Human-Collective Problem-Solving Engine

Human collective intelligence has proved itself as an important factor in a society's ability to accomplish large-scale behavioral feats. As societies have grown in population-size, individuals have seen a decrease in their ability to activeily participate in the problem-solving processes of the group. Representative decision-making structures have been used as a modern solution to society's inadequate information-processing infrastructure. With computer and network technologies being further embedded within the fabric of society, the implementation of a general-purpose societal-scale human-collective problem-solving engine is envisioned as a means of furthering the collective-intelligence potential of society. This paper provides both a novel framework for creating collective intelligence systems and a method for implementing a representative and expertise system based on social-network theory.Comment: Collective Problem Solving Theory and Social-Network algorith

This reseacrh startt from fact that the low of problem solving ability giving effect to mathematics learning outcomes. One cause is teacher did not give chance to accustom solving mathematic problem yet because some reason. So that, reserchers try to apply problem solving strategy that developed by G. Polya for increas problem solving ability. Kind of this research is The Static Group Comparison Study. Instrument for this researche is learning tools and the collect data instrument is probelm solving ability test. This research collected by test and analyze by statistic inferential, Mann-Withney. Outcomes from this research is applying of problem solving strategy give positive influence to problem solving ability in mathematics learning for VII grade student in SMP Negeri 1 Kandis Education Year 2015/2016

This study aimed to describe the mathematical problem solving ability of students in a linear program material. The results of the research would be useful to optimize the mathematical ability of students to obtain good learning outcomes. In addition, this study may provide information to teachers how students' mathematical problem solving ability so it can construct a way of learning that can improve the ability of solving mathematical problems. This research is descriptive qualitative study aimed to describe the students' mathematical problem solving ability. Collecting data in this study conducted by way of mathematical problem solving ability test were then interviewed research subjects in accordance with the answers to the test. The Subjects of study is a class XI student of Mathematics 6 SMA Negeri 1 Kota Jambi first semester of academic year 2016/2017.Solving in mathematics is the process of finding the answer to a question contained in a narrative, text, tasks and situations in everyday life. Polya said solving the problem is just one aspect of higher level thinking as the process of accepting the problem and try to resolve the issue. In addition, problem-solving is an intellectual activity to seek to address the problems encountered with the use of the stock of knowledge already possessed. In such a condition is said to be a target problem-solving learning, students should be able to solve mathematical problems related to the real world. Based on the results of research on the analysis of mathematical problem solving ability can be concluded that the subject has the ability in solving problem solving. The initial step in the completion of subject matter that is to understand the problems presented by the question, the students write down what is known, asked and lack of any data to solve the problem . Indicators are still many students who have not been precise and systematic, mostly due to inaccuracies in the writing subject is not systematic problem solving. However, the subject has used the ability to think fast, clear and precise calculations in problem solving has been good

A memetic algorithm for the university course timetabling problem

This article is posted here with permission from IEEE - Copyright @ 2008 IEEEThe design of course timetables for academic institutions is a very hectic job due to the exponential number of possible feasible timetables with respect to the problem size. This process involves lots of constraints that must be respected and a huge search space to be explored, even if the size of the problem input is not significantly large. On the other hand, the problem itself does not have a widely approved definition, since different institutions face different variations of the problem. This paper presents a memetic algorithm that integrates two local search methods into the genetic algorithm for solving the university course timetabling problem (UCTP). These two local search methods use their exploitive search ability to improve the explorative search ability of genetic algorithms. The experimental results indicate that the proposed memetic algorithm is efficient for solving the UCTP

This research is motivated by the results of previous studies that showed that students' mathematical problem solving ability is not as expected. One lesson to improve mathematical problem solving is based learning problems . The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in students' mathematical problem solving ability as a result of problem-based learning. This study is a quasi-experimental study that applies two problem-based learning and conventional learning. The population in this study were students in one of the vocational schools in Garut. Sampling was done by purposive sampling, and obtained two classes as the study sample. The research instrument used was a test of mathematical problem solving abilities. Based on these results we concluded that: (1) the increase in students' mathematical problem solving ability that gets problem-based learning better than students who received conventional learning, (2) mistakes made by student when working on the problems related to mathematical problem solving ability was a mistake due to carelessness or less closely, tansform fault information, error process skills, and misunderstanding question.
